Question about 1994 Dodge Colt

93 mirage 1.5 has no spark

I've changed the distributer/coil and computer and no results. the chiltons give no in depth tech data on this car. the fuel pump and all other systems work fine, except the retractable seat belt which is froze in place. any idea on why the car suddenly decided to die one day? im stuck with a 93 explorer now getting a third of the milage!

Hi! Chris.
This might sound daft but has the Cam Belt or Chain broken? if the distributor doesn't turn you'll get No spark.
Sorry to bring bad tidings if this is the problem.

Hello again Chris, that could be your problem, if the cambelt has slipped one or two teeth you'll be lucky to get it going again. I would get your Dad to give you a hand to check the cam timing just in case?

    Good Luck!

93 Jeep Grand Cherokee, no spark from ignition coil

so gue$$ stinks sure.... why do that.?
all it takes is a scan tool to find this.

first you need to learn ASD relay rules.
to start a jeep 1993 to NOW.
the ASD most close, cranking, does it?
and most stay closed cranking and NOT drop out in 3 seconds.
that means crank for 5 seconds and if the ASD drops. at 3.?
easy huh?
if it did DROP i can tell you the ECU will set DTC errors you failed to see because you did not scan it during those 5 seconds.

first is fuses.
lets make a list. works on all jeeps 93+
  1. battery changed. to 12.6vdc reseted.
  2. keyon, CEL lamp glows, if not fuse blown to PCM (ECU)
  3. engine cranks fast.
  4. Asd realy pulls in and holds.
  5. scan tool shows, what? BINGO. DTC errors, easy huh?
  6. ok no DTC, errors, live for 5 seconds, cranking,so lost spark? must be bad coil or wired wrong. (change it 1 wire at a time?ooops)
  7. coil dead, its not DTC caused, so if no DTC that means the PCM did not see Coil ignitor errors. to coil see? i bet its got TDC;s if not then i check the coil inputs. to be sure the PCM ignitor is firing the coil correctly with my scope, oops no scope.
  8. if no scope you get to buy a new PCM. Wild guessing bad ignitor.
  9. i use a Innova 3140 scan too that does 93-95 jeeps, for about $150 only about 1.5 hrs shop labor value. and is Investment grade tool, it would have saved you 3 parts, guessed already.

2001 Mitsubishi mirage cylinder misfire - no detection code.

You may want to try changing the coil pack rubber boots. Especially if your have recently had an alternator failure or battery failure. The coil packs themselves are probably good but I've changed my boots at least 4 times now. I have a 2000 Mirage DE with 198,000 miles. Runs great.

Hi Deon,
Have you had a Tech 1 diagnostic tool check? You need to have this done to check for any fault codes..
If you can have this done and give me the codes I can then help you out more in depth to finding the problem.

How to change motor head gaskets

The process is way too in-depth to explain in any sort of detail here. I would suggest that you pick up a repair manual at your local parts store for a step-by-step procedure, as well as a listing of any special tools you will need. Manuals usually run about $10 for a Haynes, and more expensive for a Chiltons.

I have a chevy 2.8l engine I just installed and it won't start. I have checked to make sure that I am not 180 off, and I have spark and fuel. the chiltons manuel shows the distributer with the #1 wire on...

# 1 cyl. is on driver side front . remove # 1 spark plug and put your finger over spark plug hole and have somebody bump the starter over . when the cylinder air blows your finger back that is close to tdc. #1 compression. The timing mark on crank might be off a few degress . turn crank to TDC. MARK your distributer should point to # 1 on distributer cap . if not reset distributer.
