Chevy S10 extended cab third door latch broken. Is this something I can replace myself? I've removed the two hex-star screws, but am afraid to pry off housing and causing further damage. Handle is broken.

Is there a piece that connects the door handle to the mechanism that opens the rear door on the 93 chevy suburban? our handle moves freely without opening the door

There is a rod that goes from handle to the latch. They are held in by plastic pieces that can come off. If you can somehow get the door open, you can remove the screws and pry off the door panel so you can get a better look

How do i change the latch inside the pass side door on a 1998 chevy truck

First you have to remove the trim ring around the interior door handle. remove the screws from the molded handle. pry the bottom of the door cover from the steel door at one corner and work around to the other side. lift up on door panel and it will come away from the door glass. then disconnect any wireing. Remove rivet at broken door handle and push assembly to the rear of the truck. detach the rods. replace with new handle and install in reverse order.

Rear door won't open

You can get the panel off with the door closed. I just took mine off because of the same problem. The top portion is only connected with some clips inside the panel. Take the screws out of the rear side window first. The panel will pop off if you gently pry with a flatbar. under the panel are three screws. Remove the screws and lift up on the bottom panel. It comes right off. Find the cable that goes to the top latch and pull it. It should release and you can replace the door latch assembly. Mine were both broken and I am in the process of fixing them.

2001 GMC Sonoma Extended Cab door handle broken

You should replace the handle with an aluminum version. The best one I have found is sold on eBay for 12 dollars.
Look for the one sold by
mike8756.

It is easy to install, does not require removing any panels. Th first one I replaced took me about 1/2 hour. I hae done several since for friends and now takes about 15 minutes.

Installation instructions are here:

Good luck.

I have a 2001 chevy s-10, the third door wont open. the top latch releases but the bottom one doesnt. i have removed all interior panels and the latch is the problem. how can i open the door to be able to...

Same problem here. I finally got it after soaking the bottom latch with WD40 for a week. I ended up cutting the bottom rubber seal OFF below the latch. With a BMF screwdriver and hammer and three swings...it opened. The bottom of the latch has an "L" shaped metal guide-this is not the latch. Beside that, towards the rear of the truck, is the latch. The bottom part of the latch must be forced towards the cab and upwards at about a 45 degree angle. After removing the part I could see that it couldn't be unlatched from the inside no matter how much lubricant, heat, cussing or beer drinking I did. TOTAL COST: Latch-about $58 dollars (dealer item only)
Rubber seal- $25 or so
Beer-$22
