Question about Honda Odyssey

1 Answer

My problem relates to the ABS brakes for a honda odyssey vehicle. I have noticed that the brakes light stays on all the time and although the brakes work, I've also noticed that the brakes gey soft at times when in traffic. Also, sometimes the pedal feels as though it is pushing against my feet and makes a noise. What can be the causes and solutions to these problems?

If the brakes light is on all the time, you may be low on brake fluid. Top up the brake master cylinder and see if the light goes out. If it doesn't go out, you may have air in your anti-lock brake system. This is very difficult to purge out and usually requires the dealer with a special brake system bleeding tool to do it.

My Vsa light is on then I see my brake. Light come on sparingly I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey what can cause the lights to come on

You most likely have an ABS issue. You need to have the ABS system scanned for cods and repaired accordingly.

An amber abs light is on my 1996 accord accord 2 dr lx -- is this a safety hazard ?

Any time the ABS light is on the ABS system is deactivated. The brake system should still function normally since the normal brakes do not rely on the ABS system to function. The only thing you will notice is that the brakes will lock up under a hard or emergency braking situation. My personal thought on this is at least find out why the light is on. If it is a relatively inexpensive repair that the added safety of the ABS system is well worth it. If it is a expensive repair that you'll havue to way the options. Under .the passenger side of the dash or behind the passenger side kick panel you will find two connectors not connected to anything. One will have three wires and one will have two. With the key off jump the two terminals of the two wire connector. Turn the key on and count the number of times the abs light flashes. It shoul be a series of long flashes and short flashes. The long flash is the first number of the two digit code and the short flashes will be the second. Post the codes and I will try to help you further.

I have a 1997 honda odyesey with the abs light stays on what is the problem

This could be the cause of low brake fluid or that your foot is on the brake and it is indicating that the ABS is working.
But if that is not the case then, if it is a amber brake light ,then its a sensor that read the rotor on your cv axle near behind the brake housing.---------
But if that is not the case, then you will have to retrieve codes to check the exact cause of problem. To retrieve codes, please click the link below:----

NicholsisABS Light stays on after it has been reset. How serious is this? I am purchasing this vehicle "as is" with this problem.

Depends. If you live in a place that has vehicle inspections, this wont pass. Could cost up to $1000.00 to fix. Other wise when the ABS is not working properly it reverts back to the normal braking. Meaning the tires could lock up if you hit the brake hard enough. This would not be a problem for me if I were buying this vehicle. I like the old brake system anyway

1995 oddessy abs light is on

ABS failures are common in the Honda Accord and the Honda Odyssey, especially during the 1995-1997 years. You will find that your ABS light will come on intermittently and then go out. Finally, the light will come on and stay on until the system is replaced. Honda has been charging owners about $1500 to replace the modulator and accumulator. Honda maintains that this is not a problem that is widespread. The Honda owners' notes show that the problem usually happens betwee n 50,000 miles and 100,000 miles. There is a buzzing associated with the system failing, too.--------------
try bleeding the ABS brake pump and check. You must bleed the abs pump, then reset the abs computer by removing the ABSB2 fuse.--------------

ABS light been on for few days in my honda odyssey 1995, nothing wrong with my brakes i checked them, plz tell me wats wrong with them??

it could be a MULTITUDE of problems - for a faulty sensor - to a bad ABS module ETCETC.

Take the vehicle to any national parts chain and have them read the OBD codes.

This will tell you exactly wht is going on and causing the light.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

The abs light stays on after ignition of my Chrysler Town & Country 2002. Is that a major problem and what to look for?

When your ABS light stays engaged after inital startup then that signifies a problem with the ABS system itself.Normally, this does not make the vehicle unsafe to drive, unless there is a noticeable fluid loss, which would give you a very poor brake pedal.Although this vehicle can still be driveable, the ABS sytem will not work, properly.........You can physically check the brake fluid level under the hood, and even remove the wheels to look at the brake material itself, but normally ABS lights signify a greater problem, which would require a scan tool (which runs about $800 U.S. Dollars) to diagnose properly.I hope I could help......rate me accordingly

The abs and brake lights on the dash are on. what does this mean?

Your lights mean that your ABS system or anti lock brakes are not working. The brake light means that there is a problem in your brake system as well. Some quick checks to to to ensure your vehicle is safe to temporarily drive : Open the hood and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If it is low, check the inside of all four tires to look for brake fluid leaking out of any of the brake calipers. If you identify the problem area, and you have any softness in your brake pedal, do not drive the vehicle until fixed
