The proper procedure to reset the radio to show code again is to leave the key on and radio display reading off for 1 hour and it will go blank and then hit the power button and it will say code again. The code can be obtained thru the dealership provided you have the serial and model number from the bottom of the radio.
Take it to Autozone and get them to read the code. If it is a minor problem (i.e., needs new gas cap) fix it and I would disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and reset the check engine light. It should go off. If it is a serious problem it will come back on. If not it will stay off.
Before you do this get the radio code as disconnecting the battery will disable your radio and you will have to enter a code. It should have come with the car, If not call the dealer and he should be able to give it to you.
Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes and then reconnect, I recently had the same problem and thought the control head had gone bad, for some reason I had to take the battery off and when I reconnected it all was back to normal. If not you need to read the codes with a scanner.
