If the mirror had map lights in it the wires may be shorting out. The fuse for the dash lights also run the mirror mounted map lights. Mike

Rear view mirror map lights are out 2000 buick century

Mine does that occasionally intermittently but if you look around in the back of the mirror you'll see some wires, those are most likely broken.
I had the mirror completely fall off the windshield and had a windshield installation company reattach it because I knew it took a specialty glass glue, well they broke one of the wires but not completely so it shorts out but a wiggle makes the lights come back on and I'm just to busy to take the mirror off the mount and fix it right. You can remove the mirror from the piece that attaches it to the windshield.
Check those wires, good luck

2000 volvo s40, replaced dash cluster and no dash lights. this did not fix no lights. Any ideas?

Assume you checked 10A fuse 5 in the engine compatment fuse and relay box. The output loops through the passenger compartment fuse and relay box and connects directly to the cluster. Also in the latter box, is 10A fuse 11 which feeds the cluster. Also verify that a black ground wire is connected.

Dash lights out and gauges not working

Probably a short or bad connection in the wiring behind the cluster, or the printed circuit board on the back of the cluster.
