Question about 1998 Isuzu Rodeo

Isuzu shift problem

Hi, I have a 1998 Rodeo with the same problem, the 4WD icon blinks when trying to get out of 4WD. Did you ever get to the bottom of your problem? If so, what was the solution? Thanks, Bob in Michigan

Hi Bob My Rodeo has the same problem. It got alot better after replacing the vacumm hoses to the solenoid on the transfer case. Also stop put it in 4 low then back into 4 high then hit the button it usualy goes right into 2 wheel drive.

I have a 97 isuzu rodeo 4x4 v6, the other day I switched from two wheel into four wheel high and after trying to shift into two wheel again it won't but shifts between 4 hi n 4 low

the operators guide tells tells you, dont do that.
its not AWD, its part time system. like jeeps.
if not on ice or dirt stay out of 4wd. its only for that.
never on dry pavement.
and the dangers to you and transfer case.
im sure your car is not AWD or Full time 4wd.

so this page applies, (posted over 100 times but no one searches)
your car has no center differential, so..... stop expecting one.

so drive to dirt../sand, gravel or grass and shift out steer gently.
or jack up one tire, and shift out.
2 choices to recovery,
post 101..... LOL

04 Isuzu rodeo 4x4 light blinking does not engage in 4x4 high or low.

or optional TOD, ?
if using part time 4wd?
that simple systems needs , ice on road or offroad
so DO tell what tires are touching>?
the car is no AWD.
the rules for using it is in the operators guide,
read that?
if on dry pavement (no ice) the transmission will not like
using 4wd, there is no center differential and will bind up.
test it on dirt or ice, first. work now>?

using PT, system one tire must bie on a slippery surface, or it will wind up. or lockup or fail to shift, just like read jeeps do , with PT 4wd. (owned 6)

Try to get the lower balljoint out on a 4wd isuzu rodeo , but i can't clear the outer cv joint of the 4wd shaft.

You have to start at the outer hub screw the screws around it remove the the auto hud then sirclip on the drive. The four bolts have to be removed from the balljoint. Push the shaft fully back into the axle.Pull out the bottom of the hub. Keep pushing the drive into the axle when the shaft going through the hub is over the balljoint it will lift out. Not as much work as it sounds. P.S. the brakes have to be removed also to get the hub out far enough just two screw's. Cheers
