Smell under the a burning smell..temperature light

Comes on, the battery light comes on, the steering wheel is hard to turn. There is power steering fluid in the car. I added anti freeze to the car which was low. I recently had the top hose on the radiator changed at the shop. Once I added the water to the radiator the temperature light went out, but the battery light remained on.

You are having a problem with the alternator or the serpintine belt that powers the alternator, a/c, water pump and power steering. The belt is either not properly tensioned or the alternator, or water pump is siezing up which would explain the loss of water and the battery light. Likely the water pump might be bad since you are losing some water.

The belt powers all of the systems you mentioned so I would find the belt on the passenger side of the car and go from there. It is pretty well in there and hard as hell to reach so you will likely need to take it to someone with a lift and some good tools. The good news is that this is drivable so you should be able to get it addressed before the belt completly snaps from whatever system is being broken and melts onto something making the problem even worse.

The battery may have been disconnected at the shop where you had your hose replaced. If the battery is fully charged the light may need 25 to 50 miles to reset. You may need an xtra charge since some newer alternators only maintain the charge you have in the battery. Hope this helps.

Buick Regal supercharger 1998, while driving along the steering wheel tighten hard to turn, after pouring power steer fluid under the hood, the temperature light came on,the car ran hot, no smoke.

Do you mean the engine overheat warning? The power steering problem is most likely a defective steering rack, they always act up when hot due to internal seal leakage and fluid bypassing the seal.

Brake light, battery light, service engine soon light on. white smoke from under the hood. area near belts loud and I smelled burning rubber. put car in park the engine shut off. What's the problem?

If your battery light came on, and you smelled burning rubber, it could be that your belt that drives the alternator, which charges your battery is broken or flipped upside down. Do not drive with the battery light on or else you will stop dead when the battery does not have enough charge in it to keep the car running. If you decide to drive and not follow my advice, then be sure all extra electrical power is off eg. radio, fan, DVD, lights etc.

Loud noise burning smell

Most likely a belt problem or a worn out tensioner. You left off the year, make, model and engine so it's a guessing gamet. Read this post on how to track down the source of noise

Dodge caravan 2001 blowing burning power steering fluid.

I can answer some of your questions without being there in person.
The smell inside the van is from fresh air entering the venting system. Not sure why you don't get it from all vents. The fresh air intake is in front of the windshield and will pick up any smells from the engine compartment.
Loosing the serpentine belt would not necessarily cause you to loose ps fluid, but having a leak could drain the pump and damage the bearings in the pump, causing the pump pulley to drag on the belt.
The ps pump could be in the final stage of failing.
And the shaft seal in the pump could be leaking fluid onto the engine and exhaust.

check your alternator, power steering or air conditioning belts, unless you picked up whilst driving from the road any plastic bag onto the exhaust pipe and stuck and melts on it.

2006 jeep liberty battery light came on and steering is very hard to turn..

Did you check to see if the serpentine belt is tight or missing? The battery light comes on to tell ou there is a problem with the charging system. It does not come on when the battery is bad. Since the alternator and the power steeringpu p are run Blythe same belt it would make sense to check the belt to make sure it is there and tight and capable of turning these accessories.

Power steering stoped working, battery light on and overheated. one day i wanned to go to pharmacy and get a few things from there so i come into a garage i turn the car on and i see battery light on i...

sounds like the radiator hose busted, you will need to open the hood and look at the hoses, there are two of them, they are attached with hose clamps. easiest thing to do is take off and go to a parts store the will match it up, pick up some premixed antifreeze while you are there, sounds like the belt is off or broken for the alternator/power steering look at those before you go to the parts store as they will carry the belts, also. Once you replace the busted hose and fill the radiator back up, replaced the belt, you should be able to start the car, now if you turn the key and it clicks then you will need to jump the vehicle and let it run for 30 minutes or so, the battery light should extinguish, the power steering shall work and the temperature gauge should read normal . Good Luck Tim
