I have had the same problem almost from the time I got my truck. I now have 115,000 miles on it and the problem has not gotten worse or better. I asked my Chevy dealer about it and they seem to be aware of the problem and said as long as it goes away when it warms up your ok..... I agree with the other postings I have had the same problem and it was a valve sticking on another car but eventually the valve stayed stuck and that was a bigger problem....

I was told it is piston slap that goes away after a few minutes. GM is knows about the problem but will not issue a recall. About the only way to solve the noise is a complete rebuild. I have over 150,000 miles and the knocking noise is the same whenever I start the truck.

WELL WHAT KIND OF NOCK IS IT...IS I COMING FROM THE MOTOR OR FROM THE LIFTERS,,,,LIFTERS MINOR..BLOCK MAJOR...IF IT IS THE BEARING ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT COMPLETELY SLIPS...IN THAT CASE TO KEEP HER RUNNING STICK TO THE SMAE OIL YOU HAVE BEEN USEING..MINOR VARIANCES COULD TRIGGER A SLIP...THEN THE PISTON WOULD HIT THE PLUG,,END OF STORY

Its a possibility that you have a bent rod and with a cold engine its knocking against the cylinder when the engine heats up you wont notice it because then the cylinder has expanded

theres no easy way to tell without pulling it apart you have to pull the rods out one by one and look at them then if you see one bent you can replace them its really not hard to pull them out if you have the right specs for torque you pull off you valve covers take off you rocker arms and pull the rods out now that i think about it you can also check the tightness of your rocker arms to make sure your not tapping the valve cover but theres a low chance of that happenening

My 2005 crown Vic makes a popping noise when put in gear and a popping noise whe

If the "popping" noise comes from underneath the car, you may have a worn U-joint on the drive shaft. If it is coming from the front of the car, it is probably a broken or weak engine mount ("motor mount").

I have a knocking noise coming from the a/c / heating panel stops 30 secs after key is out

Could be one of the control actuators. The actuators are moved by small electric motors and one of them could be sticking.
It would be tough to give suggestions without knowing where the noise is coming from.
Does the noise happen if you turn the key on, then off, without starting the engine ? Or does it matter if the control is on defrost or heat ?

I had a similar noise on my 01 9-3 and several mechanics suggested it was a rod knock which would require replacing the engine. Luckily it turned out to be a cracked flywheel. The repair cost me $1100.

THE COOLANT ISN READING 210 AND THE CAR STATED SLOWING DOWN ON ME. WHE N I TURN IT BACK ON IT MAKES A RATTLING NOISE

with the car cold for a few hours, take off the cap on the coolant tank and look at it, it should be clean and red. If it's not, or looks 'oil slicky' you may have a coolant leak into your oil. You can also drain the oil to see this, the oil should look like regular black oil, if it's bubbly, foamy or even light tan/brown you most likely have a blown head gasket or upper intake gasket.

Whistling noise when accelerating

you most likely have an aftermarket radio installed
the noise you hear is engine noise, if yo turn your radio off it will go away
this can be fixed by either getting better wiring for your aftermarket radio or by installing a noise filter, you can purchase that at most big electronic stores
