Question about 1993 Chevrolet Lumina

1 Answer

I have a 93 chevy lumina euro 3.1L. The problem is it will start and run fine until it warms up. After warming up it will either die on it's own (like starving for fuel), and not restart, or if I shut it off it won't restart. I have changed fuel filter, thermostat (needed it) and air filter. I also tested the ICM with a timing light and it seems to be fine. I did the "paper clip" diagnostic test and came up with codes 33 & 35. Any ideas on what to check? I have been told maybe the crank sensor...where is it located? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

93 chevy lumina runs rough dies and won't start after it warms up

Back firing is usually an indication of a timing issue

The timing chain is most likely worn & jumped a couple
of teeth or the distributor was installed wrong,if you recently
had work done

I have a 1990 chevy lumina euro that has a high idle when started and tends to die when coming to a complete stop. What could this problem be?

have you disconected or changed the battery lately- the idle needs to be reset.
my 89 regal had to be started cold -put in drive with your foot on the brake - then wait untill radiator fan turns on (open the hood first to be able to hear the electric fan kick on :)
this somehow set the warm idle speed and the problem was gone :)

Is yourd check engine light on? If it is, I would have the codes read first thing. If not, it could be clogged fuel filter or air filter, loose vacuum hose, or bad throttle position sensor or other sensor but the sensors or any electrical problem will set off check engine light.

93 chevy lumina euro won't stay running

if you can check for spark when it wont start and fuel pressure and the service port , would be great information , otherwise pattern failure is ignition module and crank sensor (replace them as a set) , after cools off it will run again.
