We have had the same problem, but now I cleaned the cables to the battery and jiggled them, and waalaa. But now sometimes it loses power while driving and when I stop and turn off, it won't start back up?? wonder if the jiggling helps, but how to fix?

by "tries to start but wornt turn over" do you mean that the starter makes a click but the engine will not rotate. or do you mean that it rotates and sounds like it will start but doesnt start

Sounds like your problem is the alternator.... If the battery starts the car when it's new and loses charge while you are driving and/or will not restart the car after driving then your car's alternator is not charging your battery while it is running.

Check for spark and fuel. does the engine crank after changing the battery? (cranking is when the engine turns when you turn the key, starting is when it runs by itself. cranking means turning over. but turning over has been used incorrectly as meaning starting)

As long as you can jiggle the battery cable and it helps, you have identified a problem in that area. The solution would be if you have side mounts use a small wire bush or old throw away tooth brush with about a cup of water mixed with a table spoon or so of baking soda, and clean all the corrosion off the terminal connectors.( The part that connects to the battery ) If post, clean the inside of the post connector by using a battery terminal cleaning tool sold at the parts store for a couple of dollars. As long as your terminals are dirty or lose the alternator cannot get the electrical charge to the battery and your battery will go dead and or get very Durr! Ruhh! low. Oh yea after it gets dark and you turn your lights on with the battery terminals lose or corroded to the point they don't let the alternator charge your battery, the battery will use all the stored voltage very quickly and the lights will get dim and when you stop your engine will turn off and probably want start back up with out a boost from a good sumaritan.even though the battery and the alternator are like new.

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has a new battery but won't start. When I try to jump start it, it just makes a clicking sound but won't start.

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere. Trace the battery cables and clean/tighten all terminals or try jumping to a different lug. You might also try removing the starter and jumping directly to the starter to verify that it is good.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a loud ticking noise, won't start.

Your problem is likely a bad battery and/or corrosion on the battery terminals. Remove the cables from the battery terminals and clean them with a wire brush or other tool. NOTE: always remove the negative cable first and reconnect it last. Reconnect the cables and then try to start/jump the vehicle again. If that doesn't clear the problem, take the battery to your local auto parts store or supplier and have them check it. You will probably need a new one.

Jeep won;t fuel pump installed

try the fuel filter and make sure you have proper oil pressure!! Remeber if you have tried craking to many bad times then the plugs are going to be fouled out!! Means that they are going to be drowned with gas and need replacing!! Also make sure your fuel pump is coming on!! You should hear a hissin or a hummin noise back from the fuel tank!
