Have you checked for spark? The pick-up is in the distributor. Do you have pulse to the coil or will it start if you spray carb cleaner into it?

Testimonial: "I don't consider myself an expert in mechanics, as i don't consider myself a novice. By redirecting my attention to distributor i noticed my rookie mistake of timing being off. plugwire post and firing position in two different locations therfore resulting in false reading. Thank you for your help, excellent web site, keep up the good work."

SOURCE: where is the torque converter clutch solenoid located on a 2000 Plymouth Neon?

I think it's right by the bell housing. There is a plug-in going to it. Raise the hood and look straight down to the transmission and you will see it.

On some cars, there is a TCC solenoid in the transmission which can be replaced by removing the bottom pan. In some cars this solenoid can't be accessed without major disassembly.

This code refers to the electrical side of the torque converter not the inside workings of the converter itself. Check the electrical connector and harness for opens breaks or chaffing. Most of the times the tcc solenoid replacement will fix this issue.

code - 37 TCC brake switch circuit error. this is the torque converter clutch. Open or shorted condition detected in the torque converter part throttle unlock solenoid control circuit
  • For turbocharged engines , code 37 will be triggered when the baro-read solenoid circuit is open or shorted.
  • For normally aspirated (non turbo) engines with automatic transmissions, code 37 will be triggered when the Part Throttle Unlock (PTU) solenoid circuit is open or shorted.
  • For normally aspirated cars with manual transmissions, code 37 is sometimes set for no apparent reason.
This is detected when the ECU doesn’t sense near 0vdc or 12vdc at the relay when the solenoid is turned on or off. When code 37 is thrown the power limited light will not be lit and the system will not enter limp mode.

I received diagnostic codes 12, 37, and 64 for a 1993 dodge spirit. what do they mean?

I can't seem to find code 12 but code 37 says it has to do with the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit- Says there is probably a open or a short in the torque converter Clutch (TCC) in the solenoid circuit.

Code 64 Is stating that it has to do with the Flex Fuel Sensor reading high. The condition has to do with the Methanol Concentration sensor input is reading more than the maximum voltage that is acceptable.
