91 Camry Transmission Trouble

I have a 91 toyota camry wagon V6 with 66,000 original miles on it. It has a manual transmission that just quit on me today. I got in the car and noticed that reverse was acting a little wierd... When trying to reverse the rpm's would go up but the car would struggle to move. Once I backed out and went into drive the car worked fine for about a mile when the transmission quit all together... Nothing... No Drive, no reverse, no 1 or 2.... Nothing. It's like it's in nuetral. The fluid level was ok and it didn't smell burned or anything. What do you think?

How do I fix Toyota camry accelerating issue?

Check the Fluid Level of your Transmission, You could also have worn clutches but I would start with the Transmission Fluid Level. Be VERY CAUTIOUS to use the Correct Transmission Fluid or you will damage your transmission and cause you quite the headache.

1989 Toyota Camry automatic transmission starting off on high gear.Stalls on drive like pulling heavy loads.

It is quite likely to be a failed shift solenoid, causing inability to find low gears. There should be a trouble code stored, causing the O/D lamp to blink.

When do I change the transmission fluid ? 2008 Camry LE

The Camry's transmission fluid is meant to be changed every 50,000 miles. At least, that's what Toyota says; it is possible to go more than 50,000 miles between changes but I would advise against it. Your car is almost 2 years old, so unless you are driving over 25,000 miles a year you shouldn't be needing a transmission fluid change just yet.

My 91 Camry DX is sluggish on hills. It just started, used to go up with no problems.

Hmmmm, have you kept your services up? if the car has done a lot of miles the engine may be tired. The transmission may need to be services, lastly, check your transmission fluid level, it sounds low. Good luck

New engine for '92 Camry wagon?

a new engine is $25-35,000 dollars(if Toyota even has them) The rebuilt engines are very good. 3 yrs-unlimited miles on repairs/replace engine. Get a name brand engine like Jasper or Atk or BulletProof or Gopher. These ARE Toyota engines rebuilt(sometime better than original) The transmission has evidently been a great one(mine has 185,000 miles).

You've done great on this car. But to replace engine and transmission; you looking labor and parts:$7-8,000. If you fix it, it will last forever, and you'll know it's good.

Or you could buy a certified used Toyota, and buy an extended warranty.

The only other thing is to buy new-$20-25,000 for a new Camary v/6 ( I don't know if they even make the wagon anymore)

I hope this has helped. Good Luck with whatever you decide.
