Replacement of awd transmission assembly

I started hearing some sounds while driving my murano 03. after taking it to the workshop i was told the awd system needs to be replaced maybe because the awd lock had been wrongly engaged. Does anyone know where i can get this and how much it costs?

same problem. I hear a strange sound coming from the transmission. They told me that I've to change the transmission. Several times the awd lock light came on while driving.

I don't want to sound like I'm not trying to help, but i have to ask this just because of past experience at dealerships, warranty, and as a service manager. Have either one of you got a second opinion from a Nissan dealer? Even if you go in & say that you've been informed by another mechanic that there is a recall, or technical service bulletin on this particular problem, and see what they have to say. I'd also call Nissan North America,(1-800-647-7261) and ask for Owner Relations, and explain that your aware that this is a common complaint and were wondering if Nissan is doing anything to assist owners with the expense of repairs. It may pay off, just don't give in too easy. Right now is a good time to do this as all the auto manufacturers are struggling for your business & good owner relations reputations. Even if they agree to pay a percentage of the repairs, your ahead of the game. Try it, call them first, they may even call dealer in your area for you & set-up apointment. All manufacturers have money allocated just for this type of thing.

2004 NISSAN murano, no country told, no full driving train told.
no transmission told, a/t or M/t (auto or stick?)
my guess those PESKY CVT TRANSMISSSION/.
no engine told.
no told if AWD OR only FWD????????
IT IS A CROSSOVER SUV.
THE SERVICE MANUAL FROM NISSAN COVERS ALL THIS.
EVERY INCH.
IS SPEEDO METER DEAD,OR ODOM OR BOTH ,NOT TOLD.
WHY LEAVE OUT KEY EVIDENCE?
I BET YOU NEVER SCANNED THE PCM TO SEE THE REAL
SPEED ERRORS, AND IT SURE WOULD !

THERE CAN BE 3 SPEED SENSORS. 2 IN TRANSMISSION AND 1 ON THE TAIL SHAFT, OR HAS SPEED GAINING FROM THE ABS SYSTEM, YES ABS KNOWS SPEED AND IS FREE DATA. ( SAVING $10 PER CAR, CRAZY FREE PROFITS)

Why not state the problem first and not a silly hunt.
for sure parts that may not exist. (ABS)
MY GUESS WILD IS CVT IS NOT HAPPY, BUT IS ONLY A WILD GUESS.

2001 subaru forester l, there is a knocking /clicking sound that can be felt in the steering wheel. took it to the shop and they replaced the r/cv joint. the sound and problem is still there . it is only...

AWD problem? Maybe, it depends on whether your car is a manual or automatic.
Manual: clicking and rattling is commonly bearing wear in the transfer case. There's three bearings that have to replaced. The transfer case can be removed without taking the transmission out.

Automatic: The car is normally front wheel drive, and sensors control the transfer case (NOT the same as the manual) AWD clutches to connect the rear drive. This clutch system may be the issue. The symptom is more commonly a grinding sound when turning.

HOWEVER ...
The knocking /clicking sound you feel in the steering wheel is the important diagnostic. This is often caused by a worn front axle INNER CV joint. What happens is the wear makes the CV jam as it rotates. Wear can result in steering wheel shimmy, similar to an out of balance wheel/tire.

It can also result in heavy steering on turns. It's simple to check. Jack up each front wheel, and check for rotational slop between the axle and the CV carrier on the transmission. Anything more than 2mm means youneed new axles.

How should i use my awd on my murano 2005? awd lock its that mean that its on and how much speed can i go please sombody

AWD is computer controlled in your 05 Murano. AWD lock is for low speeds under 10 MPH or something like that. I've had my 05 Murano since 05 and never used AWD lock. Between VDC and AWD I've never had any problem getting around. My salesmen told me it was for low speed/towing...I never tow so I've never used it.

How or where do I find info to replace front wheel bearings

Timken bearing assembly is what you need. They actually make this all sound so difficult but let me tell you how I just did the same job on my Murano 06 AWD that uses the same type of assembly.
Remove the axle bolt then the wheel, caliper & bracket to remove the rotor. Support the caliper by hanging it from the the strut spring. From the back side, you should be able to remove the speed sensor and if on that model the bolts come froom the back side, there should be just enough room to remove them. that is what holds the hub assembly in place, these aren't pressed into the vehicle, just mounted. I used an axle puller to remove the hub assembly once all of he bolts were loose & it wasn't necessary to remove the ball joint or axle. You need to push the axle through the hub assy & there is a rental tool you can get for that. There was not any excessive pulling to remove the assembly, just tap, tap, tap & it was free, ready for the other to be installed. There is the possibility that you would have to drop the lower ball joint & tie rod end to get access but I didn't have that problem & I looked at your bearing, it looks identical. Good luck.
