The exact same thing happens to me, except that the engine doesnt have to be cold. Mine does it when the engine is fully heated too. I am going to have a friend look into it later today and try to figure out what the problem is.

I have a 2002 Jag x type 3.0 and have been having the same problems when it's cold. It's been occurring for a number of months now, but turns off when it's been warm outside for a few days. Very strange. I read something about PVC hoses and flashing the ECU? Any ideas?

Your vehicle explained it all to you. Take the vehicle in for maintenance. Your car is cutting engine power until your problem is repaired.

Cruise option not available light comes on occasionally and at certain times when it does the car sputters (for lack of better word) as it it is going to cut off, and the engine light stays on

Hello the cruise will not work with the engine management light on, this will also happen with the abs light on. You should have the codes checked at a local garage. Try checking the pipe which runs from the top of the manifold to the front of the car on the right hand side as these are very common for splitting but are very cheap from the dealers.

98 explorer stalls sometimes when coming to stop. and acts like cutting out while driving

check the voltage to the THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR
that is usually the problem if its not holding at 1.5 volts
any other range it will die out when idling and sluggish or hesitating upon driving

replace the 2 large rubber o-rings in the intake manifold - passenger side - behind the 2 large plastic valves with electrical connectors. probably 3 or 4" in diameter.
