Question about 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

4X4 not working

I have a 1993 chevy Blazer 4X4. It is a manual transfer case (shifter). It does not engage when I pull it into 4 high. I tried 4 low, and hear grinding as I was trying to get it out and put it into park. If the transmission seal is leaking could it overfill the transfer case and stop it from working?

Under the battey compartment is a lever that runs on vacume unhook the cable from the vacume plungger u will first have to take the battery and battery compartment out once u get the cable unhooked have someone start ur truck and then pull the cable under the battery box that goes to the 4x4 unit dont pull too hard u may pass up the sweet spot that locks in to 4x4 they may have to go to reverse to drive a couple of time while u r pullin on the cable itr will click forward bout a half inch when it locks in if ur 4x4 works after this u will need to replace the vacume plunger or do like i did and pull it till it locks in and tie it off to sumthin n go wheelin.... lol

You should first check the 4WD actuator it is located on your front axle it has two wires going to it most of these are cylindrical and 3 to 4 inches long by two inches in diameter. Check by shifting in to 4h driving a few feet and lifting both front tires off the ground. Make shore to use good jack stands or blocks as you will have to get under the truck. Chek to see if actuator is working by rotating one tire if the other tire rotates the opposite way as the tire you are turning the actuator is working. if not change actuator if the actuator is good check the front drive shaft there is a spline on the drive shaft that can ware out and will slip. The transfer case could also be the problem but it is not common. over full transfer case would not cause the problem.

Changed to 4wheel drive low and I can't get it to change back to 2 wheel drive.

1999 Blazer. Thing's to check. 4x4 problem. There's an actuator pump under your battery plate. Make sure its in good shape and its working proper. Next check the cable that runs from the pump to the front transfer case. Then check the actuator switch on the front transfer case. Then check the vacuum lines from the front transfer case to the rear transfer case, that should be right under the drivers side door. There's also a actuator switch on the rear transfer case witch two vacuum lines run out of. Check them also, and last check your fluid level in your transfer case. Start from the beginning to the end. Don't forget to use your 4x4 every know and then to keep it up to power. Its not like the good old days. Where a pull of the lever on the floor engaged the 4x4. I hope this helps.

have truck running,,put shifter in neutral,,shift into high lock 4x4,then put truck into gear,,u can shift from high lock to high gear,,from two wheel to four wheel,,in high only,,if u want to shift transfer case in low,,u have to put truck in ,,neutral,,first,,

93 chevy blazer seizes when I turn sharp left or right. Vehicle barely moves, engine stays running, but sounds real low and doggy. Any ideas?

If this is a 4x4, make sure it is not in 4-wheel drive. If the transfer case is engaged you will get a "bunny hop" feel when you make a hard left or right turn.

Vacume lines or vacume switch on transfer case,or vacume pod to front axle.

93 chevy s-10 blazer 4wd High wont work

Transfer case module causes this, first disconnect battery then wait 1 min reconnect and try 4 high should work till you can get a trained tech to fix.

4wd high range does not lite or engage

I had the same problem with my 98 sierra 4x4. Turned out that the electrical activator on the transfer case was not working. It will still go into 4 low but not 4 high. Replace the electrical switch on the transfer case and it should work again.

1993 Chevy Blazer Mileage scrambled and 4 hi not working.

ok well its hard to do without seeing it. but here goes. if it has electronic dash then it sounds like you either have a faulty conection on you wires to it or your cluster is fubared. best way is if ya have a friend with the same truck swap out and see if that helps. if ya dont have a buddy with one then check your wires on the back of the gauages. might have some corrotion on the little brass whire inlets on the clusters. if that doesnt work ya prob need new cluster. as for the 4x4 will sounds like an intermitten problem.if ya have a good seal on your actuator on the top of the transfer case check the vacume lines that run to it for will have vacume. does your truck run a little ruff when on idol? sounds like a vacume leak of some sort. it isnt the transfer case because it did work so it must be something to do with the vacume. take out acutaor again on the transfer case and watch as someone puts in 4 hi and 4 low ya should see the ball bearing on the bottom go up and down.has the truck been sitting for awhile? sometimes the transfer case gets sticky without being used offten. make sure your fluid level is up. there will be a bolt on the top side of transfer case that will alow you to feel for fluid. check with pinky. if you can feel the fluid it is up.might be best to replace fluid. hope that helps. if ya need to get better info add on messenger and i will talk ya through it. hope this helps. i know these trucks very well. hope this helps!
