Why is my forenza manual not shifting right?

is this a DIY question, and you have never adjusted a cable on anything ever, even a bicycle?
m/t, manual transmission (axle)
answer yes,
the linkage needs to be rebuilt. so find the play, and that is the part that is bad. the online parts pages show what is there. and replaceable (badly).
there is a cable.
person 1 moves shifter and person 2 looks at tranaxle shift link.
if person 1 moves lever and the trans part is not moving 1 for 1.
then the cable or linkage is bad. it's just cable link.
easy to diagnose as the parts are completely viewable and diagnosable.

one thing bad about suzuki is their online graphics sux
missing or wrong or incomplete. (chapter 11 dont help that )
your car is really Daewoo, in suzuki badges.
all they do,is a have a$$ attempt at looking normal , parts page wise.
it's pathetic compared to all other cars made. and sold.

consider this:
your and move the shifter. (a simple lever) and below there is a lever to cable that can fail, consider looking there. then the cable moves
and at the same instant and in direct proportions, the other end of the cable moves (the whole purpose of any cable) 1 for 1.
that end moves and connects to the transaxle link.
that most move too, and not have play or be loose.
all it takes is looking at both ends of cable.
and behold the truth.
ahhh, the connections here have plastic POS connections that are all broken, dang me.

My daughters friend replaced the shift cable on her 1996 Sunfire 75K. It will now only shift from 1st to 2nd but not to 3rd. I can also hear a wining sound in park. Can you adjust this cable?

My name is Tom and I am here to help.

Yes, there is an adjustment for the shifter. I do not know who changed the cable. I would suggest they adjust the cable to remedy this. I could walk someone through, but I would need to talk to the person directly.

Let me know if you want to do this.
