Bad gas milage

I have replaced all 6 fuel injectors spark plugs wires fuel pump air and fuel filter and im still only getting 10 miles to the gallon.what else is there to do?

Use higher octan gas to see change air filter oil change will allway in most cases give a few moe miles on the gas

You didn't mention if you replaced the mass air flow sensor, if the tech got that code, it needs replacing, if you haven't alresdy done so.

Did you try checking or replacing the coolant sensor? I think you should replace it along with the thermostat. Are there any problems like sputtering or any unusual noises or symptoms? Smoke, anything?

thats probably what it gets, tune it up, change air and fuel filters, E3 spark plugs, plug wires, what ever it takes to make it run better, drygas in fuel tank, every fill up, (red bottle, has fuel injector cleaner) todays gasoline has 10% ethanol in it, not good for older cars.

Im not sure if this will completely solve your problem, but I will give it a try.

If the engine is flooded, crank the engine while holding the gas pedal to the floor for a couple minutes (or until it sputters or starts). This will get all of the extra gas out of the engine. Your plugs will be fine.

Check your fuel pressure with a test kit...they have a bleeder port that can purge the air out of the fuel rail. Its possible the old gas may have gone bad in 6 years. you may have to purge the old gas with fresh gas. couldnt hurt to put a couple bottles of fuel injector cleaner with your gas. Your injectors could be gummed up with varnish from the old gas.

Before you waste a bunch of money and time replacing good parts, get a code reader or have a mechanic hook up a code reader for you. This will help isolate your problems. If you are not getting a check engine light, the mechanic method may be better because their computers will give you more information than a handheld.

You've already eliminated the spark plug & wireset, distributor cap & rotor.
Sounds like your car needs a tune-up, specifically, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, and/of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.

Components checked/replaced during a tune-up are:
air filter
motor oil
motor oil filter
breather filter
fuel filter(s)
fuel strainer
PCV valve
EGR valve
spark plugs
spark plug wires
ECM or distributor cap & rotor
cabin air filter
transmission oil filter
transmission oil
engine coolant
check all vacuum hoses and lines

My car is spatering like it's not getting gas


Several things could be the cause of your problem:
  1. clogged fuel filter
  2. fouled spark plugs
  3. bad wire/wires
  4. clogged fuel injector
if after eliminating any of the above the problem persists, you may want to get a diagnostic test done to isolate the problem.

My '01 impala 3.4 v-6 flat spots when COLD, at around 20mph. the idle is ruff with random misfires. acceleration is overall poor. when HOT, most symptoms go away leaving only some slight acceleration...


depending on mileage, but possible tune-up could fix it. if already done then check ignition coil pack and ignition wires also spark plugs, check vacuum hoses for leaks or porous, last injectors clogged - use some techron fuel injector cleaner (wal-mart has them). Also get the throttle body and iac valve cleaned by throttle cleaner . Also this other possibilities are to be checked and confirmed.:---- Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1.Defective spark plugs
2.Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4.False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
11. Manifold absolute pressure sensor
12.Mass Airflow Sensor
13.Idle air control valve

1996 chevy cobolt 6 cyl. "engine power reduced" idols extremly rough shaking entire engine. When pushing on gas pedal car will sputter acting like it wants to die.


It sounds like you have a fuel issue or spark issue. Pull your spark plugs and see how they look. If they look fine then test the fuel pump. You could try to run to fuel system cleaner through the fuel system and see if there is an improvement in idle. Could be any of the following problems,

coil
spark plugs
spark plug wires
fuel filter
fuel pump
injectors
air filter

Check the easy stuff like plugs, wires fuel pump and air filter first.

2002 ford focus is geting poor gas milage


Tune Time.
1)new spark plugs properly gapped.
2)new air filter (check every 35000 miles)
3)new fuel filter (every 35000 miles)
4)1 bottle of STP fuel treatment (red bottle) 4x a year.
5) oil and filter change (castrol or another good quality oil every 3-4000 miles.
6)proper air pressure in tires (check every 2 months
7) service transmission every 40000 miles or less.

New oil and filter
8) new plug wires every 80000 miles.

Horrible gas mileage


What are your driving habits like? If you start fast and stop quick this will take at least 10mpg off
Get a vacuum guage and mount it on the dash and run it to a strong vacuum source on the engine, hopefully you have around 19-21" at idle and then drive and try to keep the vacuum reading as high as you possibly can this means very light foot on the throttle and on the brakes, easy steady acceleration and no speeding I have seen thousands of people complain of fuel milage and after seeing their driving habits they are the problem not the car. Im not saying you drive hard but just in case change it and you will see with a vacuum guage and tru to keep that needle up around 17-20" all the time your fuel mileage will improve dramatically.
