SOURCE: Steering wheel vibration and whine noise from rear of car

Yes, and it probably is your wheel bearing. Hearing a sound like a chain dragging is classic. You may also hear a clicking noise or chain dragging noise when turning to the left or right.

Look under the car and see if the rubber boots that surround the axle near the tires are cracked and leaking grease. If so, it is almost a certainty that the bearings are bad as you have lost grease and thus lubrication to the bearings.

Good luck,
bob

SOURCE: Hi My nissan Pathfinder 2006 model s vibrates when is on

Has your fuel economy dropped? It may not have, what it sounds like to me is a low rpm miss. You could have a dirty injector or injectors, hard to tell unless hooked up to engine analyzer

SOURCE: I have a 2005 Nissan

Your motor mounts are either worn out or broken causing you to feel the vibration from the engine. Another possibility is that your exhaust pipe is touching the body somewhere.

96 dodge caravan has drivetrain vibration at approx. 60km per hour let off gas it stops or give it more gas pettle it stops

Have the u-joints checked for serviceability. Check rear engine mount is in good condition check that the rear springs are still at the right height. You appear to have a harmonic vibration that is cause by worn u-joints or incorrect drive line operating angles from the angle between the rear of the gear box and the diff pinion having changed . Check the drive shaft for balance as sometimes the balance weight can throw off.

I have a 230E Mercedes benz 1987 with an engine 1985 230E the car vibrates violently when stopping on (d)rive gear weak torque on the first gear.

The heavy vibration during braking sounds like it is warped disc rotors. This car has disc brakes on all wheels, so it could be one or all of them causing the problem. One way to identify whether it is the front or the rear is to observe the steering wheel while braking and feeling the vibrations. If the steering wheel is shimmying at the same frequency as the vibration, it is almost certain that it is the front. If not it is the rear. Do a visual inspection of your pads and rotors. You will probably see scoring in the rotors. It is a fairly easy do-it-yourself job with improved braking and that smooth Mercedes ride we all love.

Vibration when stopped but once i start going it stops. was told engine and tranny mount are fine. what now?

Look for a grounding exhaust pipe or muffler rubbing the body or frame or fuel tank, then check the rubber isolator that joins the arm/link from the rear differential to the transmission crossmember. Sometimes A/C lines like to ground out as well, have someone sit in the car with it in gear and feel the line and such that go to body, when you hold it the person in the car can tell you when the vibration stop. If the car is idling rough or missing when stopped in gear that needs to be fixed.

I would suggest having your universal joints checked out , sounds like a bad joint or bearing somewhere in the rear end, if you can get your speed up to about 50, put your rav in neutral and let it coast if it stops vibrating, it most likely is your problem

Gear change vibration

These cars usually have a two piece drive shaft. There is a center bearing in the middle of the driveshaft for support and dampen vibration. It could also be the front rubber coupling where the transmission tailshaft and driveshaft meet. If both are fine try loosening the bolts on the rear transmission mount. Your mounts may be out of alignment allowing for unusual angles between the transmission and driveshaft. Good luck.
