VOLVO 2005 V50

I can't shift it out of park. It is not moving.

I spilled coffee on the sifter this am. Could that be it???

Maybe some electrical switches neat the gear selector are now filled with the coffe? Try to disassemble the plastic and look for the damage....

Check the passenger foot area. The CEM is located there and many time passengers unplug connections with their feet unknowingly.

There is only thin insulation between the foot area and the CEM.

CEM= Central electronics module.
