SOURCE: drivers footwell full of water ( not flood damage )

check the drain tube outlet on the bottom of the car, that drains the AC. It could have become plugged. If that fails to clear up the problem, then you'll have to check the heater core... But you would be smelling coolant.

SOURCE: water leak ns rear footwell

I had the same problem on my 2003 Audi. The guy who fixed it told me that he sees alot of Passats with this problem.
The drainage holes underneath the battery get blocked by leaves etc. leading to a build up of water. This then leaks through the heating ducts into the rear footwell.
In my case it wiped out the electronics for the alarm and central locking(£200 for a new one).
Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Rain water leak on rear floor board on 03 530I

Water leaks are a nightmare. At least in your case, you know what you changed when it started. I believe that this should be your fix. The outer moldings are there to stop leaks and such. When you had the molding replaced, it has not sealed back into place properly, so it has not been blocking all water from coming in. First, I would remove the molding, and try again. Be slower at it, and be sure to have everything flush. If this does not fix your water leak, than simply do it one more time, only this time, use a caulking that is recommended on vehicles, and line the space your molding runs along, so when you put the molding back in, it will seal better. Be sure the caulking you will use does not expand when it dries, or gets wet, and by all mean do not use gorilla glue, that stuff expands as it dries. Also be sure not to use an excessive amount of caulking so as to be sure it does not ooze outward past your molding. By the sounds of it, since your water leak is only on the rear, I would start by doing this with the back only. However, because of the way cars are designed under all of those pretty interior panels, water could be leaking in from the front molding seals, and running backwards towards the rear seating before it runs down to the floor. Of course this would be the obvious fix, however the water leak could have just started after you replaced the molding, this could be just a coincidence, and this may not fix your water leak if the problem is else where. If you cannot find the solution on your own, take your car to a dealership. Dealerships may be more expensive, but they will take care of your problem, and your car. And if they haven't fixed your problem they are obligated to find and fix the issue.

SOURCE: we have a water leak in the drivers footwell of

I have a discovery 3 and I had the same problem with water in the footwell. The problem was blocked drain holes on the sunroof. The water overflows from the sunroof onto the headlining ( which is plastic coated so the water will not come through it) and then ran down the headlining to the "A" pillar. It ran down the back of the "A" pillar trim and then came out of the joint between the trim lower down by the door hinge area.

SOURCE: water leak into driver footwell

Hi, I've had this problem and spent hours with my Wife watering the front scuttle area with the wipe mechanism removed. I hope at last I've narrowed it down to an area where the brake booster to attached to the firewall. Rather than take it out I've used a cleaning gun on a compressor and fired heaps (and heaps) or black soundproofing tarry solution down around, in and about the right side as you look from the front. Certainly at this stage the water running inside has decreased markedly and I've given it one last blast this morning. I'm optimistic this will cure.

1999 volvo s70 problems What must I do to get the rain water drainage system working properly ?

Do you have a sunroof? Cars have drainage holes up there that often drain into the door jamb on the front doors and sometimes down the rear pillars and behind the trunk/boot lining and exit the car near the wheel wells. Often, the connection at the top to the pipe comes off at the top corner of the windscreen.

Others have the same problem. Sunroof drain mentioned and how to fix.

I have a rover75classic 54 it is leaking water when it rains on near side is it a useual fault

Had same problem. Lift up rear seat on drivers side and you will see a steel tube running from the wheel arch under the seat. Tube is about 2 inches wide. If this is rusted underneath then water is getting via the wheel arch open end of the tube. It runs into the rear foot well and forward into drivers footwell, also runs under rear seats and into the boot! I removed the rear drivers side wheel, pulled away the plastic wheel arch lining then sealed the hole where the wiring leads through this pipe. Covered it with plastic flashing replaced the wheel arch lining. Took 30 mins to repair, took a week to dry the carpet, rear seats and boot carpet.

I have water leaking into passanger footwell . the garage has tried everything. are they missing something

That's usually caused by either a leaking heater core (does it smell like coolant?) or a leaking condensation line on the AC unit (it will appear to be water). It could always be a leak in the footwell or the windows too, but that would only appear when there is rain.

Hyundai Getz leaks near pedals when raining

My Getz is also having similar problem. I have thrice got water test done from Hyundai server center. After 2nd test they put some sealants underbody and return the car, but still water was leaking in. 3rd time water test, hyundai said its all fine, no problem but still problem persists. It happens when it rains only, so I dont suspect air-con filters or radiator problems. Water pool is created in driver side footwell only. During heavy rain, I tried to troubleshoot but couldnt find any fault point from where water might be leaking inside. Its second year, I have running into this problem, creating stinking smell inside the car due to wet mats. Looks like I need to do away with my car.

Seat Alhambra 1996 1.9L water leak drivers footwell

the water can travel along surfaces or beams in the car so you cannot tell where it is actually leaking. in my ford windstar water leaked in right over the fuse box. it ran along a cross beam from the passenger side. if it has those plastic strips they use to go in between small gaps in the metal... like along the roof where the roof is and the metal of the sides joins it is likely they are leaking. best to take a garden hose and have someone inside the car with a flashlight on the floor looking for leaks

Leaking roof under passenger seat

Have you cleaned out the drain tubes? There is a 'rain rail' underneath the rear lip, which diverts water off the top and down to tubes on each side. The tubes get clogged up with leaves and whatnot. You can use a coathanger to CAREFULLY clear the debris. Check out www.miata.net for more Miata information than you could imagine.

Happy Motoring!
