Heater not working sounds like a blower motor or heating core. Make sure that your antifreeze is green and mix 50/50 with water, now check and sqeeze your hoses running from and to the Radiator and if its VERY hard and has a crunch sound, it's blocked up, use radiator flush and follow directions, If not than look into the Thermostat b/c if it needs repaired than it will stick and let enough fluid into the engine so that it does not overheat yet with the pressure will back up into the resevoir. My new thermostat is a 140 degree and i've never soon my temp meter get to half way after that.

93 GMC Safari overheating. This happened spontaneously. Runs hot very quickly when I drive it. There is antifreeze in both radiator and overflow res, overflow res fills up more after driving a bit. ...

It would appear your thermostat is stuck in the closed position , find where it is on your engine, drain coolant and remove thermostat housing and stat, replace housing(liquid gasket OK) and coolant. now run engine, turn heater controls to hot leaving filler cap off, top up any water to max and replace cap now warm up to temp until fan comes on. if all ok replace thermostat with a new one and new gasket, you could also flush the sytem out at the same time with a hose pipe by loosening one of coolent pipes and flush radiator.

Pushing anti-freeze out the resevoir. Changed water pump, thermostat. Temp. gauge does not indicate overheating. Fans seem to be working OK.

Try replacing the radiator cap. A weak cap will allow coolant to leave the radiator and go thru the overflow tube to the reservoir.

1999 buick centry overheating overflowing the overflow

Until you get it figured out use regular water. Replace thermostat and radiator/coolant tank caps. Thermostat regulates pressure in the motor and allows radiator to cool. Caps regulate atmosperic pressure. Either or both being bad will cause you system to siphon and fail.

When the engine is warmed up is the top radiator hose hot ? Is it hard, a can you squeeze it ?
You may have a leak in the head or gasket.
