Transmission does not go into gear.

Hi, check that the cable is attached to the gear selector on the trans and does the shift quadrant move as it usually did.... not sticking or stiff in it's movement. Auto's are basically a hydraulic pump forcing oil in through valves and galleries in the valve body,,,, it could be that a gallery is blocked or that a valve has jammed shut..... check all electrical connectors for a proper fit..... do all the lights on the shift indicator light up as normal, no engine check light coming on ?

First check for 12-12.6 volts at battery if you have 12 volts at battery then,check for 12 volts at starter power cable if you have 12 volts there then check for 12 volts on the switch side of starter solenoid ( purple wire ) this should get you started in the right direction.Let me know what you find out.

you need to check and see if there is voltage at the sylanoid on the passenger fender the little wire marked with an S should have voltage when key is in crank potition with clutch depressed if there is voltage presant then suspect sylanoid if not check fuses and relays

No that hard, but your going to have to drop the Transmission pan, there are two identical solenoid at the back of the valve body with the pan removed.
The "B" (2-3) solenoid is the closest to the passenger side,"A" (1-2) is closest the driver side.I would go ahead and replace both as they are not that expensive.Spring clips hold them in place that can be removed with a small screw driver.
The "slipping" you're noticing,is most likely just the transmission shift pattern getting screwed up due to the malfunctioning solenoid.Probably more like a 1-2-2-1 or a 4-3-3-4 pattern depending on which way the solenoid is failing,or maybe it feels like it is starting out in 2nd or 3rd gear. 

Once you get the solenoid changed and transmission fluid and filer changed, here is a little added performance you can do. Have the Servos replaced with the Corvette servos, the part is only $45.00 and take about 30 min to replace but less for you since you have the truck up on a lift already.

1st thing to do is test the system for codes, the problem is most likely a failed or stuck shift solenoid indside the trans, have you ever serviced the trans, sometimes a fluid and filter cahnge will cure these kinds of issues.

F-350 turbo-diesel hard starting

Imagine the white smoke is unburnt diesel. Anybody standing in the middle of it will be able to tell you soon enough.

Most likely culprit is that one or two of the glow plugs aren't getting hot enough. Usually just that the plugs need replacing, but worth checking first that the busbar which runs between them all is getting +12V at the appropriate stage of the process.
