1992 Mazda 929 won't start in rain

I bought a 1992 Mazda 929 a year and half ago. For the age and mileage, it ran pretty good. It started right away at the beginning. Then about 7 months later or so after a heavy rain, it won't start. The engine would turn over but it wouldn't catch. I tried to start the next 2 days but no go. On the third day, the weather was drier and it started with no problem. I took it into a mechanic and told him my situation. He checked the pressure on the cylinders and found one that was not up to par but not really bad. He checked a few other things out and didn't find anything wrong. In the end, he changed the spark plug wires. I didn't have any problems after that till the Arm assembly on the driver's side front gave way and tore the ABS sensor. Shortly after that I noticed that the car would not start right away when I started it. I mean when I use to turn the key, the engine would catch. So I took in to a mechanic, to check out the electrical system. He couldn't find anything. The next f$#!ing night, there was an 8 hour downpour and it stayed rainy for a few days. I could not start it again till it dried up. The problem happen again recently. And just last night, it rained pretty good. I am assuming this is eletrical. Any suggestions before I go to a mechanic again.

SOURCE: My Mazda 929 went through a water puddle and now it wont start

I agree with "emissionwiz". What probably happened was you hydrostatic-ally locked your engine. What happens is when you went through that puddle water got sucked into the intake and into the engine. Water being a liquid cannot be compressed and stalled the engine and most likely bent some internal components. If you can hear the starter click but the engine won't turn over you've got a 99% chance its a ruined engine. If you don't want to believe that try turning the engine over by hand (socket on crankshaft), you should be able to turn it, if not it's done for. Good luck and sorry about the misfortune but next time go very slow through puddles.

I have a 1992 mazda 929 that will not roll over I checked the starter and its goodthe battery is fine all lights and radio work any ideas,?

does it make any noise at all? if not get a hammer and hit the starter a couple of times ( not little taps) and try it again, if it starts then your starter is not good. I am curious as to how you tested it.
