Question about Hummer H3

Open Question

I have a fault code p2431 on my 2007 3.7ltr I-5 hummer h3

I located the code on the OBD ii pocket scanner to be the map sensor. The mechanic is telling me the map sensor is fine and that the harness needs replaced and wants to charge me 250.00Dol.Is this something I can do and where is it located.Does that sound like a reasonable fee?I'm told there was a bulletin GM put out about the map harness.Cant find that site.

SOURCE: Ford windstar OBD II code P1537/38, P0171 and P0420

It could all be related.P1537/38 are the intake manifold runner controls are stuck open. They are controlled by vacuum solenoids. The P0171 is bank one of the engine is running lean, usually caused by a vacuum leak, P0420 is catalytic converter efficiency code. The computer monitors the switch rate of the front 02 sensors and compares it to the switch rate of the rear 02 sensors to tell if catalytic converter is doing its job. Now if the front 02 is not switching properly then this will cause this test to fail and set this code.
Look on bottom section of the intake manifold at the back of engine(where tranny bolts up) you should see the vacuum motors there on the intake, these are the control motors for the intake manifold runners.Make sure the vacuum lines are hooked up and lines are not leaking. Also you will see a lever from it to intake make sure they move and are not binding.

SOURCE: check engine light 97 ford explorer. obd-II po141

Looked up your OBD II code for your Explorer and got the following: Bank 1 Sensor 1
The possible causes are listed below per Chilton: *same result for all engines available on your vehicle

Trouble Code: P0141 (4.0L V6 VIN E Auto)
HO2S-11 Heater Circuit (Bank 1, Sensor 1) Print this code dataprint_icon_codes.gif
Number of Trips to Set Code: 2
OBD II Monitor Type: CCM Details
Indicators: MIL Details
Trouble Code Conditions:
During testing the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) heaters are checked for open and short circuits and excessive current draw. The test fails when the current draw exceeds a calibrated limit or an open or short circuit is detected.
Possible Causes:

  • Vacuum hose disconnected on exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module (ESM) applications* Short to VPWR in the harness or HO2S
  • Water in the harness connector
  • Open VPWR circuit
  • Open GND circuit
  • Low battery voltage
  • Corrosion or incorrec
The sensors themselves appear in the illustration linked to below. The illustration is for the Ford Ranger but indications are that other models have similar locations. Hope this helps with your problem. Best of luck!
Greg

H3 2009 has Traction Failed Service Stab system warning up. my mechanic doesn't know if its a sensor problem or complete master cylinder??? Help

The mechanic should test feed/ground/signal and voltage drop for the sensor circuit and the sensor on a scope to know if it is the sensor/wiring or other .

Air bag light does not go off in hummer h3 2006

Your best bet is to get it scanned by a garage mechanic to see what codes are showing and see if it can be reset. Usually the fault lies in the wiring at the connectors or in a sensor. It is highly unlikely to be the airbag itself so hopefully is a quick and in-expensive fix.

1994 crown victoria engine races

Problem with idle speed. The idle is controlled by the pcm (engine computer) through the operation of the Idle Air Control valve or motor. But several other sensors are also at work, like the throttle position sensor, the coolant temperature sensor, the MAP sensor or the Mass Air Flow sensor. The computer monitors all engine conditions to optimize performance and driveability-this includes keeping idle speed correct.
Would probably help you if you could see what all those sensors are telling the pcm-so you need a scanner capable of giving live stream data. And don't forget, your '94 is OBD-1, not OBD-II like all cars since 1996 on have. A garage should have such capable scanners, but they are kind of high end, not your typical cheap code scanner.
