SOURCE: Should i buy a 1991 Cadillac brougham

Yeah...go drive, reverse, drive reverse, without coming to a complete stop, but not at 30 mph either, if anything feels like its slipping or it kicks or something weird, then no buy...engine problem is easier to cope with than transmission problems, generally. You did say it's an automatic? Going rate is about $2200 on this car though...unless you really want/need it go up to $3000 MAXIMUM...don't tell him that though...tell him that you want the car at this price, and if I don't get it, I'll walk away...make sure to point out to him all imperfections you notice everywhere on the car...look behind, under the tires, run a magnet to make sure all stock paneling, you know...eveything you're supposed to do when buying a car. Every guy wants to get rid of the car at a fair price than hang on to it for a while overpriced.

SOURCE: engine won't turn over

you drove from a warm climate to a cold one in a short period of time, compared to climate change which is gradual usually. My guess is that the last time you gassed up the car it was still warm there. When you change temperature quickly like that, condensation forms, and you get moisture in the tank and the fuel filter. When you reached you destination, and **** the car off, it was cold, and somewhere in the gas line it froze. Try changing the fuel filter, and ad a can of heat.
this should dry up the moisture, and solve your problem....

My 1989 Cadillac Brougham 307 starts up and pulls off but doesn't go more than 15 miles or so...replaced ignition coil and alternator, wire, spark plugs.Could it be my fuel pump is bad..?

There is another ignition module in your distributor that should have been changed when you were doing tune up. Try that first, then you can check fuel pressure to see if pump OK.
Another problem with these cars, was the catalytic converter plugging up.

Car won't start 2003 Dodge Stratus sxt coupe cranks but won't start what could b the problem? I tried spraying starting fluid in the air system but it still won't start!

i would check and see if spark pluges are firing. you can take one out and plug into spark plug wire then let the bottom of the plug sit on engine and get someone to try to start while you look at the plug to see if there is any fire. if you have no fire or fuel it would be the crankshaft sencer. it could be the timing belt but the motor would sound different turning over then it used to.

Washer fluid will not pump on a 1989 Cadillac Brougham

The Brougham is the rear wheel drive version - so the washer pump is mounted on the wiper motor.
Depending on what is wrong with the pump, you could replace it or rebuild it.
A mechanic would make sure the wiper motor is getting power to the pump when you engage the switch.

Telescopic steering wheel won't lock.

either it is worn out do to losseness, or the internal parts have gone bad.

this is not a do it yourself repair.

you have to be very carefull with the wiring especially the air bag (it can go of in your face)

your best bet is to have a good caddy tech take a look at it

I have a 1989 Cadillac brougham and the check engin light comes on when I start it and let it idel but if I start it and put just a very little pressure on the gas peadle it's stays off what does that...

It would be worth checking or changing the air, fuel and oil filters and if that doesn't help try getting the engine codes checked with an obd reader.
Hope this helps.

Truck wont crank. we have put new distributor cap, rotor button, coil pack, plugs, wires, and fuel pump. we also checked our firing order.

you said you repl dist cap that means you don't have a crank sensor you have electronic ing module. remove your elec ing module have it tested most auto parts stores could test your module, or check your coil at the neg terminal. should have power. if not you lost your primary volt from your batt.your secondary power is coming from your electronic ing module from the module to the pos terminal on the coil, when the eng cranks, from the coil to the dist cap , from the dist cap center to the rotor then out to the plugs, this all happen pervided the timing belt or timing chain is ok. the cumbustion chainber needs 3 things , thats fuel, air, and spark.

I recently bought a 1989 Cadillac, shortly after driving it, the head gasket blew, it also has a dry lifter. My problem is the guy i got it from said that it is not the original engine. How do i know if...

Cadallic put several diferent engines in the 80s cars because of the EPA if I remember correctly. (I may be wrong)
you can tell what type of engine you should have by the vehicle vin number
V-6 is vin number -4
V8s(472,500,425 and 368 vin numbers RST( and ^
5.& (chev) vin number-7
5.0 (307 olds) vin number-Y
if you get under the car there will be a number stamped on the engine over the oil pan area.
you can match that to the Vin number on the car bottom of windshield or under the hood on the fire wall or in the area of the radiator i believe.
then if these match you may have to check a dealership or write to cadallic for the exact engine or have a knowledgeable person with cads tell you what it is.(this is what I did)
