Question about 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab

1 Answer

'04 Silverado 4.3

This truck only has 43,000 on it. It stalls out when either idling or driving. I've changed the cap, rotor and fuel filter. Fuel pump comes on when I turn the ignition on. Not sure what else to do.

I took it to a mechanic and he said to change the fuel pump. I wrestled with that today and still doing the stalling thing. Not sure what else. Mind you, the check engine light does not come on, only when I start the truck and then goes like normal, never when it stalls.

I used a different forum and got this answer.

"There has been problems with the wiring harness that goes to the ignition coil. Start the engine and let it idle, find the wiring harness that goes to the ignition coil, has two or a three wire connector. Wiggle the wire to see if the engine stalls. If it does, you need to replace the connector. Your local chevy dealer should have a "pigtail" replacement connector instock.

SOURCE: code 43 . my alt stayes at about 11 12 volts when

CODE 43 IS ELECTRONIC SPARK CONTROL -.KNOCK SENSOR.LOOKS LIKE ALTERNATOR NOT PUTTING OUT ENOUGH VOLTS TO CHARGE BATTERY.YOU NEED 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND ELECTRICAL WIRES.MAKE SURE BELTS NOT SLIPPING.IF ALL IS GOOD.REMOVE ALTERNATOR.LET AUTO ZONE CHECK IT.TO MAKE SURE.TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE MOVING BATTERY CABLES.SO YOU WONT LOSE RADIO CODE.YOUR CAR IS NOT GOING TO RUN RIGHT IF THE ECM DONT RECEIVE 12 VOLTS OR 13 VOLTS.

MY 220K MILE 1997 NISSA TRUCK ONCE IT WARMS UP (WILL NOT DO IT COLD LIKE AFTER 30 MIN ON) WILL IDLE VERY LOW, THEN STALL OUT, CHANGED OUT FUEL FILTER, DISTRIBUTER, CAP & ROTOR, PLUGS, WIRES,...

A throttle positioning sensor or idle sensor can cause these problems, low fuel pressure can cause these problems also low fuel pressure can be caused by a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

sounds like it is in the throttle sensor or idle control valve causing problem not responding fast enough to take over also try the fuel filter could be clogged.

Stalled 3 times wille making a turn

Could be fuel filter, idle air control valve, or idle control sensor, or a vacuum leak.
