It can be faulty brake light switch causing the problem or its blown brake light bulb.First check and confirm brake light lamp is working and that's not the case.

The brake light fuse for this 1992 Lincoln continental is located in the fuse box located on the driver side of the dash. You will need to look under the dash on driver side. i have enclosed a picture diagram of the fuse box and i have circled the brake light fuse. This fuse is in slot location # 1 and uses a 15 amp fuse. hope this is helpful. any other problems let me know, good day.4_29_2012_9_00_43_pm.gif

Get yourself a cheap multimeter and a 12v test lamp. Start checking what has power and what does not. Follow your wires where you can. Check all the connectors. Use it to double check your fuse and your new switch.

Make sure the negative contacts on your brake lights have a good earth. The continuity or ohms meter on the multimeter is good for this.

Sounds like you have done a good job so far. When you have check all the possible problems check the impossible ones :)

Lincoln ls back brake lights dont work

If you have the owners manual for this car look in the index for fuses. This will give you specific location of which fuse protects the brake light. Fuse block is typically located under the drivers side dash, near the floor. Have you changed the bulbs?

Consider what you have changed when stereo was installed. Using existing wiring is not like it used to be. The electronics has changed that. Going from fuse block is not a good thing.
Try undoing and examining wiring for damage and consider routing from battery. Cables are available for extra wiring from the battery.
