SOURCE: jsut want to know where crankshaft position sensor

Hi!!

here are illustrations of the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor in 2.3L and 3.0L.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.

2.3L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.

How do i replace the front crankshaft seal on my 2005 ford escape 4.0 engine

you have to take of the harmonic balancer with a puller than try to pry it out of the timing cover without damaging the cover or the crankshaft then tap a new one in with a large deep socket if there is no lip on the outside of the seal that you can gradually fit a gasket scraper or a flat bladed chisel/screw driver to pry it out then you have to take the timing cover off the engine and tap it out with a socket and I think your motor is a 3.0 V6 or a 2.3L 4 cylinder

this is what you need it's the complete set for the 2.3L engine

this is the complete set for the 3.0L engine please understand that I am not there at the vehicle with you and I don't know your mechanical knowledge or capabilities you must be careful not to damage this cover or you will be in hell without a hand basket good luck! sstephen

How do I free up a seized 3.0 engine on ford escape

You must rebuild it. When a berring (weather it be a cam or crank shaft) turns it cuts off all oil circulation from that point on then it heats up the bearing to the point of welding itself to the crankshaft and begins to cut grooves so deep that the crankshaft seizes. 9 times out of 10 the crankshaft will be junk. Its best to buy a remanufactered engine. Machining and building it yourself is time consuming. Hope this helps.

Crankshaft oil seal

ring your ford dealer and give him the vehicle details and they will find the right seal that you need or you can ring a bearing and seal supplier in your area and give them the details of your car, they are most probably a lot cheaper too.

How do I replace rods and bearings in a Ford 2.3 engine??

There is a Ford "motor repair book" at most auto supply stores (not just a typical repair book).
If you have not done this before, it is somewhat of a challenge.
example: You must measure (to the micromillimeter) how much wear has been done to the piston rod end and the crankshaft so that you know what size (thickness) the replacement bearings should be. You just don't buy any bearings without measuring.

I would like to ask: Why are you doing this? You may not need to do it. Are you trying to stop an oil leak? replace seals?

Hope this helps!
