Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Electric Window cable connections

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear passenger widow drop down and would not close. I heard no motor activeity. I took apart the door and found cable laying in the door. I took apart the spool on the motor and found the cable jammed in the housing. I fixed that part now I need a diagram and instructions on how to re-route the cable and adjust the window.

I'd be interested in any kind of instructions that would help me replace the assembly. Is there anything available?

Check wiring harness in between door and body, most likley there is a broken wire in this harness.
To get the window up you will need to remove the panel and apply a power and ground direcly to the moter connector. if it does not go up then reverse the polarity

Sounds like the motor cable has broken in the lifter. You need a complete unit as its not fixable. Fiddly but a 40 min job to replace.

The most common problem is in the wiring where it runs from the driver's door through the door jam. Continuous opening and closing of the door eventually causes the wires to break.

I have the exact same problem on a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004. The rear passenger window rolls down only from the rear passenger window and won't go up or down from the front. It has to be in the wiring because the problem was intermittent initially and a new window motor does the exact same thing. If you figured it out or have the wiring diagram please let me know.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The front left

Try the hazard switch.Do all the blinkers work? This may be a loose connection to the lamp. The window and lock system are on seperate circuits so very unlikely they are related. There is a seperate relay for the blinker and hazards,so a single blinker not working is either bulb or wiring.Widows are operated by motor so check the fuse, wires and and actuating switch. (Door trims off). Also check its not just jammed.Locks, check fuses, switch wires for damage or looseness and the actuator is working.Check the actu. rods are not loose are bent.(need the door trims off for this).Quite a few different things but hope this helps
