My Olds alero 01 2.4 has a metallic tapping noise when in drive, oil pressure light flickers on left turns only, and rpms jump and car bucks at over 65mph. Oil level is fine, just changed it. 72k

The tapping must be a drive train problem, not the engine where it would be tapping all the time. It could be a transmission/transaxle internal problem, or it could be a bad CV joint on the drive shafts. The drive shafts, or half shafts as they are called-one for each side of the car-connect the transaxle to the wheels, and the CV joints on the shafts allow for turning movement and for car suspension movement, while maintaining constant power to the wheels.

As for the oil light and the car bucking, I really would have a shop check the engine's oil pressure to see if it is acceptable. The light only comes on or even flickers at very low oil pressure, and that could be worrisome. It could cause expensive engine repairs. So I suggest you have an oil pressure check along with the tapping in drive, and go from there. They all sound like unrelated events, but you never know.

How many miles are on the engine did you change the oil if oil is present on the filter you may have blown the filter gasket or double gasketed the filter is the tapping a hard tap will it turn over it's hard to say but it sounds serious.

You might be burning it, or the antifreeze might be going into the engine oil. Let us know what you find.

The oil light stays on after putting oil in it plus you here a loud tapping sound like the valves are tapping.

The oil light reads oil pressure. If you have a loud tapping it sounds like you don't have enough pressure to supply the upper half of the engine. You can try a higher weight oil but it sounds more like the oil pump or a main seal

Tapping Sound from 2004 GC 4.7l Engine

If the tapping noise speeds up with the speed of the engine, it's a worn valve lifter.
If the service light is on, change oil and filter, if tapping is still there, the lifter is the culprit.

My Volvo is overheating and mixes the engine oil with the coolant, however, there's no sign of coolant and oil mixture in the engine, only in the radiator and coolant lines. The oil cooler is also clean....

the oil that you are seeing may be transmission fluid if its an automatic, the transmission lines go through the radiator for cooling.if the radiator fails in that section ,it could be leaking into the antifreze,or you have a blown head gasket

Oil in the antifreze over flow tank

Yes, oil in the antifreeze typically comes from a blown head gasket. To verify, start the truck and watch the overflow tank you should see what looks like a back flow or bubbles. By the time the truck get to normal temp, it'll be obvious.
