The noise is the pump, replace it and flush the system with clean fluid.

SOURCE: Squileeng with the belt

I need to know why you changed the power steering pump and the belt. It sounds like you had a problem and replaced the wrong component. You chould change whatever component is locked up behind the pulley and replace the belt. Let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: mazdaspeed protoge 03 is making that high pitch

That means the fanbelt on the alternator is not tight enough or needs to be changed, if the belt on powersteering goes via A/C than it might be too tight on the powersteering pulley.

SOURCE: want to bypass powersteering pump on 94 grand

that's not possible all of those vehicles came stock with power steering so all belt dimensions are taking the power steering pump into consideration, the only one that would change would be the A/C belt depending on whether or not your vehicle came with it or not,a used power steering pump should only cost just a little bit more then a new serpentine belt, hope this helps and good luck

So my 2000 Pontiac Sunfire has an issue with the power steering. I'm not sure if its a belt, the pullly or barrings in the pully, or if its the actual pump. It has fluid and everything. But you can...

Firs check the belt tension, you should have about 1/4 of an inch free play in the belt, that is up and down movement of the belt, also check the fluid level.
Is there any noises from the powersteering pump, like a bubbling noise or a whirring noise?

Whining noise in 2003 trailblazer i replaced the puly, alternater, and powersteering pump need help

Before replacing any parts, the source of the whining needs to be isolated. You can use a car stethescope or a long screwdriver and carefully place the end on various areas at the front of the engine and listen for where the noise is the loudest. Another method is to remove the serpentine belt and rotate each pulley that is driven by the belt, listen for noise and feel for rough movement.

A loud noise around the area of the timing belt cover at regular idle. Disappears when driving, then reappears when at idle again.

Dear SIr,
As you saying noise wont come in driving and only comes in idle , it means noise will not come if RPM is high by norma in idle l, try this one start the car don't drive it just raise RPM(rotation per minute of only engine not vehicle speed) in neutral gear , if noise disappear that mean it a problem of drive belt . If drive belt is got less tension then also it can occur or belt is damage, replace belt problem will solve, (for reference drive belt it drive alternator, powersteering pump,A/C compressor that is made by rubber). Thanks if any problem ask me.

How do I tighten the belts on my 1991 toyota landcruiser to keep from making any slipping noise? Belt only slips when I'm turning sharp in either direction.

this sounds like the powersteering unit busy saying cheers. check your powersteering fluid is topped up. keeping it topped up would keep this from slipping. the belt is tighten to the right degree. I'm sure it's just the fluid. otherwise an early sign that the powersteering system is packing up. good luck
