Question about 2004 Volvo XC90

1 Answer

Drivers side seat heater won't warm the seat

I'm sure this is a silly girl question, BUT the switch on the seat warmer works meaning the light comes on but does not warm the seat. Pass switch and seat work fine. I am sure it is something simple like a fuse or something unplugged but i looked under the seat and there are many wires and I have no idea what to look for besides hanging wire or plug. HelP?

Sounds like a bad relay. Look in the owners manual or on the fusebox cover. It will not be a fuse, but a silvery looking box that pulls out. Youll have to check the documentation to see which one it is in your vehicle.
Sometimes it is under the seat in a Volvo.
check the relay under the seat, make sure it hasn't worked its way loose. if its still tight, the heater pad itself has probably checked out.
If its not the relay, and you want to save some $$, replace the drivers side with the P/S. 'F' the passenger :)

Does the air coming out of the vents change when you move the temperature control knob? If you can't feel it, you should be able to hear the change

Heated seats switch lights but driver seat does not warm.

the heating pad on the drivers side seat back probably has a hole burned in it,from wear and tear, normal gm issue,if you pull up the seat back cover and look at it you should see a small burn mark and when it does this is creates a open in the circuit, therefore the seat does not get warm,,,you must replace the heater pad its just glued on there,,first makes sure thats the one thats burnt but 80% of the time its that one,,you also got a heater pad in the seat bottom and 2 more on the passenger side seat,,,,that should help,,

The most likely cause is the seat heater elements, they either have excessive resistance or are open - id recommended replacing both driver side element - upper and lower

Driver side seat heaters

This is a common problem, if the lights come on the switch ( which confirms your relay is working) then it is the heater in the seat itself. Dealer only part.
Hope this helps

Drivers heated seat won' work

Probably a fuse!
Under the dash on the drivers side or under the hood.
New cars have them labeled right at the fuses not in the manual!
Hope this is helpful.

Good Luck!
