SOURCE: 2000 Montana van dies while running

before u replace any parts u need to have the electronic engine control tested for trouble codes, this is the 1st thing that any shop does to know where to start the repair and diagnosis. Most likely u have a defective crankshaft position sensor, but have the test run..

SOURCE: Changing spark plugs in a 2000 Poitiac van.

There are a few ways to doing this, and it takes time and a few band aids. You can remove the alternator to give you some room to access the rear spark plug with an extension and swivel spark plug socket. You can also get to the plugs from under neath if you have a ramp and long arm, an extension and swivel spark plug socket will help. You may have to use a 2x4 to wedge the engine to give you some room if you have larger arms. The other way is to tilt the engine forward by disconnecting the two top engine mounts. First replace the 3 front plugs and wire one at a time so you don't cross them. After you have changed the front plugs have a friend help you. Make sure the parking brakes are on and disconnect the two top engine mounts, release the parking brakes and let the transmission in park. Push the van forward slowly to tilt the engine forward far enough to give you room with out pushing it to far in to the radiator. Put the parking brakes on again to keep the van from rolling back and place a block of wood behind and in front of the rear wheels. Don't want to lose an arm. Replace the rear plugs with extensions and a swivel spark plug socket. Note, your going to have to replace the spark plug wire since the rear ones are really hard to remove and pulling on then will destroy them, not worth the headache trying to save them. Use platinum plugs so you can get 100.000 miles before you have to change them again so use anti-seize on the plugs so you can remove them again. Good luck and hope this helps, I personally go from under the van.

I put a 2004 ponitac montana engine in 2002 ponitac montana van the 04 has no secondaryair now check enigine light wont go off how do i fix it

Without the make model... the only answer possible is... you are going to have to change the software PROFILE your car has in residence... OBD2 to whatever your new NORMAL represents.

If it is a BMW.. you are in luck... I know of at least three forums where all kinds of STUNTS are being programmed...

Other makes/models may take more research... but at a MINIMUM you are looking at more than a code reader... you will be needing a code writer...

A project unto itself

Or a talented mechanic... but it is certainly do-able.

Good luck

2000 Pontiac Montana gas gauge stays on full and doesn't move the only time I've seen it moved was when the front of the van was jacked up what could be the problem?

Probably a bad sending unit in the tank,or maybe a broken tank baffle.(Either way, you're looking at taking out the tank to find out.

I have a 2000 GMC safari van 2-wheel drive. When it shifts to 3rd it seems to jump into neutral. What can cause this? Changed transmissions and it is doing the same thing

My local transmission specialst tells me that ALL GM van transmissions run hot. Especially within the Safari/Astro design - that doesn't reflect the wind very well (compared to today's smaller mini-vans). He recommends ATF aux cooler (LPD Design) be installed in all Safari / Astro vans - even non-towing vans. For example, Hayden 678 or 679 LPD design.

If wondering, I installed Hayden 679 in my prev AWD Safari van and installed Hayden 678 in my wife's smaller size GM mini-VAN. re: ooler-UpperSupport-2.jpg & ooler-LowerSupport-1.jpg

As a suggestion, install the LPD aux cooler design (re: Tru-cool or Hayden 678 or 679) in your "running hot" GM van. These ATF coolers work great in my GM vans...

I have a 2000 ponitac montana, my tail lights, and dashboard go on & off intermittently - today I took the van to the dealership, of course as soon as they put the vehicle on the diagnosis machine,...

My parents had the same problem with the dash lights on there Montana. After 7 trips into the shop we determined ourselves that there is a wiring harness that runs under the carpet on the drivers side in about the location where most people rest their left foot when driving. What was happening is the wires had worn through the insulated cover and was grounding out on the bare floor under the carpet. We were able to tape the wires and wrap them with hockey stick tape to prevent it from happening again. It is worth looking into.
