i understand that you think i may have a blown headgasket, however if that were the case would it be possible to drive from florida to ohio and back? it overheated four times on the way there but i don't think i had the system full. when i filled it up the last time on the way up, i drove the last five hours and did not overheat and on the way home i didn't check the system because i didnt want to break the vaccum seal, made it into kentucky before it overheated, made sure the system was good and full at that point and drove straight through without shuting off the car and it did not overheat the rest of the way which was approximately 10 hours at 72mph. thank you for your time.

If all those items you listed above were replace and antifreeze was filled up and system was bled properly. MAKE SURE ELECTRICAL FANS COME ON and if the vehicle still over heats the only other possibility is a BAD HEAD GASKET. Contact if you need more help and thanks for using FIX YA

Does electrical fan come ON and OFF, remember if you read what I said that if all the things I said above was good then it could be the head gasket, make sure all the above is good first then we can go further and to answer your question if its in its early stages YES it can do that trip. If it just started may be very small. Contact if you need more help. Good Luck

I have a 1999 cadillac. deville i have problems with overheating i see no leaks so i bought new themat and radiater a week or two later it start overheating again what's wrong?

Water pump vanes wear down with age. May need a new pump. Other things to look at are a cracked head. The engine will burn the coolant if there is a crack. With the engine cold. remove the radiator cap. Start the engine and let it run long enough for the thermostat to open. Now look at the coolant flow. Is there any bubbles in the coolant as it passes by ? If so then you have a crack in the head.

IT KEEPS OVERHEATING

REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF COOLANT LOW, ADD MORE COOLANT THROUGH COOLANT OVERFLOW UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL IN THE COOLANT OVERFLOW STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.REASON POUR COOLANT THROUGH COOLANT OVERFLOW MOST GM CARS DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP.WHEN YOU GET COOLANT LEVEL OKAY, CRANK CAR LET IT IDLE UNTIL ENGINE GET HOT BUILD UP PRESSURE THEN TURN OFF CAR.CHECK FOR COOLANTS LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR HOSES,CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE RADIATOR, CHECK FOR LEAKS AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IF YOU SEE COOLANT LEAKING FROM WEEP HOLE REPLACE WATER PUMP. IF CAR OVERHEATING WHILE IDLING YOUR COOLING FANS NOT WORKING CHECK COOLING FANS FUSE AND RELAYS.IF FUSE AND RELAYS OKAY THE ENGINECOOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR BAD.

Engine keeps overheating

I'd start with replacing thermostat (that's the most common fault) Other possibilities; waterpump, leaky hose, radiator cap (not holding pressure), fan belt broken. I'd inspect for belt & leaks - if good replace thermostat.

Cannot find overheating problem 1997 cadillac deville. we have installed new radiator, fans work fine, new water pump, new thermostat, catalyic converter, new hoses, and we cannot find any leaks. please...

These engines are know for leaking head gaskets. A good quick test for this is fill the coolant tank to the top with the cap off. Start the engine. If the the coolant blows out of the tank, you have a head gasket leak.

Not shure if I should replace the thermostat or water pump in my 03 chevy s10

If water pump leaking replace both, if not and truck is over heating start with thermostat.

The engine is overheating. Removed the thermostat, radiator fans not kicking in, noticed collant leaking from were the water pump is located.

If the water pump is leaking, then you need to replace it, replace the thermostat as well. Make sure you have got all the air out of the cooling system, when you refill the coolant, by undoing the top hose of the radiator till water comes out, likewise with a heater hose, then start and check, when the temperature is right the fans should cut in, keep an eye on the temp guage whilst doing this.
Hope thgis helps
