Question about 2005 Jeep Wrangler X

1 Answer

My 2005 Jeep Wrangler X has a battery drain when the power distribtuion box is connected. I have pulled each fuse and relay in there, one at a time, but there remains a battery drain each time. Enough of a drain that the jeep must be started and run every 3 days or the battery will drop to 7.0 volts or less.

Probably your battery needs to be charged or changed. Why don't you try another battery in it and see what happens

SOURCE: Jeep wrangler Fuse box

i had the same problem. i drive a 95 so im not sure if it differs from were the fuse box is. look righ above you pedals to your far left. it should be right there. also if you instruments went out it will be a 15 fuse. its a blue fuse. next my panel went out cuz of the wires on my transmission. if yor looking at your jeep at the front. the wires will be on your left. make sure they are not burned or anything. it will be right on the side of your tranny. mind got burned by the exaust so they were shorting. check that is and see if that is what is it. for a temp fix just put some electrical tap around the wires and you should be set for a wile. good luck

You have two locations for the fuse box. One is either under the hood or behind the glove box. I would pull apart the glove box and take a look.

SOURCE: What does the auto shut off fuse do? 92 Jeep Wrangler.

The auto shutdown relay in your vehicle is controlled by the computer. If the computer does not see a signal from the crank or cam sensor, it will turn off power to the relay which in turn shuts off power to the fuel and ignition system. Unlike those in many passenger vehicles, it's not connected to an impact sensor. (as jeeps are off road vehicles as well as being transportation, if they had an impact sensor, they would be prone to shutdown when traveling over rough off road terrain)
The fuses to the relay are affected by shorting or overload of any components they serve, or by a problem with the relay itself.

Which fuse for my jeep wrangler 97 is for the ciggarette lighter?

Hi, the 1997 Wrangler has two fuses to check. Both in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) under the hood. Fuse 3 supplies the accessory circuits through the ignition key and energizes the coil of the accessory relay. If your radio works that fuse is OK. The other fuse, fuse 5 supplies the power to the accessory socket when the relay is energized. The relay is behind the glove box and mounted to a stack of multi-wire connectors.
Replace fuse 3

My jeep is failing to start. When jumped by another car, it still would not start. No lights come on in the dashboard, and the starter will not crank.

Remove, clean, and reinstall the cable connectors at the battery. Even if they LOOK clean, that may not be the case. Also, check the connections from the battery to the starter. Any of these connections being bad will cause a no power condition. There is also a power distribution center under the hood. It is a rectangular black box by the battery. There is a relay and maxi fuses for the engine power that comes straight from the battery. Check those maxi fuses.

Engine will not turnover

If there is no power coming IN to the starter relay - the ignition module has failed.
Replace the Ignition.
