SOURCE: Whining noise from clutch

The noise you hear is the 'clutch throwout bearing', which needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: tdi clutch pedal pushed all the way down but hard to shift gears

Check your clutch fluid level, sometimes a seperate reservoir (drivers side on firewall), some clutch systems take fluid from the brake system (check brake fluid). If thats ok then the clutch slave may be failing.
If the clutch fluid is low refill it and check for leaks (or just wait till the symptom comes back). If it's happens often then theres a leak in the line or the slave somewhere.

SOURCE: to change gears, I need to fully press down on my

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

In a manual 2001 Hyundai Accent, the clutch cable could be adjusted. The adjustment point is on the cable 'pad' where it enters the firewall in the engine compartment.

To adjust, the slack or free play must be decreased. This is done by turning the adjusting nut clockwise. Check back by pressing on the clutch pedal to your preference.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: nissan clutch problem

If your not able to shift into any gear that means your clutch is not engage/disengaging. Check for fluid leaks, you said topped off and fluid levels were low? It sounds like you have a Slave cylinder or master cylinder leak, if its leaking its bet to replace both.

Have you got a hole in the floorboards????
It could be something loose in the clutch or just something ricochetting around the bell housing.

Sounds like the release bearing , with the clutch pedal pushed bearing would be disengaged and would not make any noise.

When pressing in the clutch and releasing it there is a squeaking/whining noise that is being made. it shifts fine and i am not dropping out of gear, but I am worried about the noise. do you have any ideas...

start by spraying some WD-40 on the hinges of the clutch pedal. this will eliminate if the squeak is coming from the pedal and not the clutch. now assuming that it does not eliminate the squeak then here's the next thing.the throw-out bearing is beat. you can replace that on its own but if you are going to go through the trouble of replacing the bearing you might as well do the clutch too....

I press the clutch pedal all the way to the floor but it will not go into reverse without grinding really bad, once i am under way it shifts thru the gears just fine. any suggestions as to what might be...

I have the same problem accept going into first gear, hope someone can help. I have a hydraulic slave cylinder and I believe yours is mechanical. If yours has a hydraulic system than you can have your line bled out or look for the bleeder valve yourself and have some one press the clutch all the way down after you open the bleeder valve. The air should release out. Release the clutch pedal and and close the bleeder valve. If it's a mechanical system then you may have an adjustment on the actual linkage. You can google bleed clutch lines or mechanical adjustment on nissan clutch.

Clutch noise and stiffness

it sounds like your clutch release bearing has or is colapsing.when you press the clutch the release bearing is under the most load hence the noise.gearbox out i,m afraid. Can you still get gears ok ?.Also the pedal box,s are prone to break on polo,s ,the symptom for that is like a squashy pedal and hard to get gears.if you can look up at the top of the clutch pedal where the cable mounts see if the bracket the cable fits in to is broken away at the top.
