Replaced motor in 98 toyota tacoma prerunner 2.7 l put it back together and now it won't shift into gear. Can you help please

Do you have the torque convertor bolted to the flex plate? I hope you made sure the convertor was fully seated on the input shaft before dropping in the engine. After the engine and trans. was bolted together, did you have a gap between the convertor and flex plate, or were they pressed together? If there was no gap, and the conv. and flex pressing against each other and you started the truck, you probably just ate up the trans.oil pump drive tangs and the convertor itself too.

Replaced transmission in 97 gmc Sierra 5.7 vortec and it is not working. I know transmission was good

Did you make sure the convertor was fully seated on the trans input shaft (3 clicks)? After trans was bolted to block, there should have been a gap between convertor and flexplate (the convertor bolts should have drawn the two together). If not, you probably wiped out the drive tangs for the trans oil pump when you started vehicle (wasn't engaged properly). Hopefully not.

I can't seem to get my motor and transmission to bolt back together theirs about a half inch between them what am I doing wrong please help anyone Its a 95 Pontiac bonneville I'm having the problem...

When you get ready to bolt the transmission back to the engine, you have to make sure that the torque convertor is seated all the way into the transmission. With the transmission and engine put together there should be about 1/2 inch between the flywheel (flexplate) and the torque convertor. It should also spin freely. If not then you might not have the convertor all the way in the trans.

Rear engine oil leak....

Oil leak can be attributed to several factors.
1. Gasket failure.
2. Uncontrolled Crank case pressure Failure.

RECOMENDATION:
Tighten both the valve cover and oil pan bolts.
Replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve and vacuum line.,

INFO: PCV
This is a valve causes a negative vacuum on the engine while its running, As to say if it had a leak in a valve cover it should not be leaking while its running, only when the engine it turned off.

Hope this tip guides you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

Replace clutch on 95 sidekick

You want to know the procedure?

You will need tools and a jack and a really good strong friend.

Remove the drive shaft. Unbolt the trans from the engine and put it aside. Unbolt the pressure plate and remove. The clutch plate will fall on you. Remove the fly wheel for resurfacing.

Take everything to the auto parts place that has a machine shop.

Get the flywheel resurfaced. Purchase a new/rebuilt clutch plate and rebuilt pressure plate. Get a new throw out bearing. Also get a clutch plate alignment tool while you are there.

When you get all the stuff together, reassemble it.

Put the fly wheel back in ... becareful of the starter. Add the clutch plate and the pressure plate. Use the alignment tool. Bolt it all back to proper torque spece. You will have to ask at the auto parts place for the torque specs. Oh yea, you will need a torque wrench for this.

Put the trans back in. You should probably change the universal joints while you are at it, front and rear.

Or - you could have a shop do this for about $500.00 to $1,000.00 and save on the band aids.

Thanks for your question at FixYa.com

good luck on your project.

'95 cutlass ciera, Mating the trans and engine?

Hi
Fit the torque convertor to the gearbox first, make sure it locates fully with the pump drive on the g/box(the round section that's got two flat sections) in the centre of the bellhousing. Make sure the convertor does not slip out when mating engine and g/box, when mated there should not be any gap between engine and g/box(transmision) without any bolts tightened, secure transmision to engine then only replace the bolts that holds the torque convertor to the flexplate.

Phillip

My 2000 Frontier v6 has a small leak or 2 at the top of the gas tank. can this be repaired or do I need a new tank? thanks

If the tank itself is leaking, replace the tank. If it is a seal for the fuel pump or other, replace the seal.

Torque converter removal

is it front wheel or rear? if front you have to take down the motor and trans together by unbolting the 4-6 very large bolts and drop the entire front assembly.
if rear drive disconnect the drive shaft and unbolt the crossmember get a trans jack or one with wheels that work and unbolt trans from motor.
remember to SPIN the torque con when reinstalling.
