Heater blower will not come on

I have checked the fuses, I wired the motor direct and it works that way.The a/c switch & rear window defroster is in the same cluster as heater controls. They do not work either. They seem to be on a pc board is this the problem and how do you swap it out. I have a 1998 olds 98. Thank you Roger.

I have changed the control panel, the relay, checked the resister, and it still does not work. Some times if I hit the top of the dash it will. So i wired the blower to a switch but it just blows out cold air. the selecter will change form defrost to bi level and to the floor. but I still get cold air. The selector works off a vacuume and the off position is on it to. Could there be something to a vacuume switch some were. I am lost Thanks Rog

The Oldsmobile and other makes with electronic control board's are plagued with problems. Call your local auto recyclers and get a replacement switch. As far as changing the switch once out of the dash it is just a matter of disconnecting it and hooking up the new one, fairly straight forward . You may need a torques screwdriver to remove it from the dash. Mike

The entire control panel will come as a unit. You will see once it arives from the wrecking yard. I would suggest waiting till you have a replacement so you can check to make sure it is the right one before pulling the dash apart. This will prevent loosing screws while you are waiting for the proper control panel. Mike

My heater only works some of the time and my rear defrost dont work what could be the problem

As by heat only works some of the time , you mean it doesn't blow air out of the vent's . This means you probably have a problem with the blower motor or blower motor resistor or blower motor relay .

1983 Chevrolet C10 Silverado: The AC compressor and heater blower motor fan will not come on.

The brown wire at the speed switch is the power wire. Powers is then directed to the blower motor resistor throught the orange, lt blue and yellows wires. The blower motor receives power through the orange wire. Check for power at the fuse with the key on. If there is no power the problem could be the ignition switch or the wiring in between the switch and the fuse block

MY 1991 JEEP WRANGLER CARS HEATER DOESNT WORK

If the blower works check for coolant in the cooling system. Test operation of thermostat. Check heater control valve for proper operation if equipped. Pressure test cooling system to ensure system holds pressure (this will help you identify a leak, if any. If car does not over heat and cooling system is in good working order, then the heater core is clogged.
If the blower does not work Check fuse, relay, wiring for short to ground, apply direct battery voltage to blower motor. If blower motor turns on and fuse/relay and wiring are ok replace the switch.

Blower motor only works on high position both for air and heater , was working fine until a week ago , checked fuses they seem ok help !

you have a bad blower motor resistor. They are nomally close to the blower motor on the passenger side under the dash. If you follow the wires from the blower motor it should lead you right to it.

95 jeep Cherokee heater wont work but rear window defrost still works need help please

Check the blower motor fro good connection, power and ground. Hot wire it to the battery and see if it runs. Check the blower fuse, relay, switch and resistor pack.
blower and rear defrost circuits are totally unrelated.

Heat and ac controls do not work. also rear window defrost will not operate

There are few things that has to be checked.
  • Check Engine Coolant Level
  • Inspect Heater Control Valve
  • Check Vacuum Feed
  • Blower motor
If the blower motor is faulty it will affect both the heat and cold in the car. Also check the fuse in the blower motor fuse panel.if the fuse is faulty ,then can also be the reason.if every thing checks out OK.then its the fault in wirings of the AC system.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
