Question about 2002 Honda Odyssey

Panel instruments do not work

Our traction control somehow got stuck in the on position and became a huge irritation. so my husband took the panel off where the tcs button is located to get it unstuck. during this process he managed to blow a fuse or something and my panel instruments, windows, and power locks don't work. it also won't go in drive, but there is a botton on the steering column that we push down with a pair of scissors and we can put it in drive. we have checked all the fuses, and they are all good. what else could we check?

My husband has since said that he blew the fuse for the traction control on purpose so it would go off. The traction control is still stuck and everything else is still broken.

Sounds like he accidently disconnected a wire bundle connector under the dash somewhere. It could also be a faulty or disconnected relay from the same area.

the driver's multiplex control unit is a small computer located under the dash on the driver's side. It controls panel instrument lighting, power windows, door locks, and the transmission shift lock solenoid (among other things). It receives power through three fuses. The first fuse is in the under hood fuse box and labeled No. 9 ABS F/S (20A), the second fuse is in the passenger's (kick panel) fuse box and labeled No. 13 CLOCK, BACK UP (7.5A), the third fuse is in the drivers fuse box and labeled No. 9 BACK UP LIGHTS, INSTRUMENTS LIGHTS (10A). Removing any of these fuses could cause your symptoms.

Is the traction control light constantly on and irritating? Or is the traction control motor constantly running and causing drivability problems? List a fax number (at a Kinko's maybe?) and I will fax you the wiring diagrams and the "TCS motor stuck on" troubleshooting pages.

What is the fuse number for the dashboard lights on a 2007 Ford Focus 3 door hatchback?

Principles of Operation
The instrument cluster and panel illumination consists of dimmable and non-dimmable illumination components. The dimmable illumination is controlled by the instrument panel dimmer switch, which allows the brightness level of the backlights to be adjusted to the customer preferences. With the parking lamps ON, the instrument panel dimmer switch uses electronic circuitry to provide a variable pulse width modulated (PWM) output to the instrument panel and all applicable switches depending on the driver-controlled level of intensity. The headlamp switch backlighting consists of 2 constantly illuminated LED bulbs that are powered by separate circuits. Battery voltage is supplied to the first bulb when the ignition switch is in the RUN position. Battery voltage is supplied to the second bulb with the parking lamps ON. The non-dimmable illumination allows for full intensity dependant on the ignition switch position.

Inspection and Verification
  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

How to reset computer for traction/light is on

Hi Christine , what book is that ? I have Cadillac factory service Information an I have work at a Cadillac dealship ! There is a problem somewhere or the light would not be on . Traction control is part of the ABS system . If your vehicle came to me at the dealer, one of the first thing's I would do is hook up the tech 2 scan tool an see if it could communicate with all the modules - computers on the vehicle !
Install a scan tool.
Does the scan tool power up?
Go to Step 2
Go to Scan Tool Does Not Power Up in Data Link Communications

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to establish communications with the following control modules.
Continuously variable road sensing suspension (CVRSS) module

Electronic brake control module (EBCM)

Powertrain control module (PCM)

Instrument cluster (IPC)

Instrument panel integration module (IPM)

If it communicated with all the modules , then I would check for DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes ! If there was a code I would go to the diagnostics for that code .If there were no codes I would go to the symptom:s list an in your case it is TRACTION CONTROL Indicator Always On
Circuit Description
The instrument cluster controls the operation of the TRACTION CONTROL indicator. The EBCM reports the desired status of the TRACTION CONTROL indicator via class 2 serial data messages.
When you first turn the key on , without starting the vehicle Does the TRACTION CONTROL indicator illuminate during the bulb check and then turn OFF after a few seconds ? IF there are no DTC"S stored this could be a wiring problem or the instrument cluster or
Electronic Brake Control Module ! Or you can try a reset by disconnecting the battery cables from the battery ! negative first then positive an touch the cable ends together for a minute , then hook them back-up ! positive first then negative ! Heard of this from others on the internet ! But if there is a real problem the light will come back on !

PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. Check fuses No. 1 and 2 in underhood fuse block. Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Check brake fluid level in Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly reservoir. Ensure parking brake is fully released. Ensure parking brake switch is functioning properly. Always perform ABS/TCS system functional check before using DIAGNOSTIC CODE CHARTSThe EBCM/EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBCM/EBTCM can be displayed using Tech 1 scan tester. There are no provisions for flash code diagnostics.Begin ABS/TCS diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and proceed with ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 .If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 . The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.CHART D - TRACTION OFF WARNING LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY & NO DTC SET (BUICK WITH UH8 OR U2A INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)Circuit DescriptionWhen ignition switch is first turned to RUN position, EBTCM goes through a self-test, which lasts 2-4 seconds. During self-test, EBTCM commands TRACTION OFF indicator warning light on. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can also command EBTCM to set a Code 75 which will illuminate TRACTION OFF indicator.Traction control switch is located either on instrument panel center trim plate or driver's front door trim panel. Switch allows driver to select traction control mode (on/off). When traction control system is turned off, TRACTION OFF warning light comes on.EBTCM monitors transaxle temperature through

If someone didn't turn Traction Control off by means of a button, it is telling you Traction Control is OFF or malfunctioning. Instrument panels lights are supposed to illuminate as a lamp test for a couple of seconds each time you start the engine. If the Traction Control is not operational you should have it checked by a dealer, they are familiar with your car and have likely seen this before. Traction Control is an important safety feature that needs to work properly to help you avoid loss of control while driving in slippery road conditions.

Why does my tahoe keep displaying reduced engine power? The drivetrain and traction control lights also came on.

There is a service bulletin for this concern. The number is 07-06-04-019A.It has to do with the body harness instrument panel connector. It is on the left hand kick panel area inside the instrument panel. You should have the codes checked. You will probably have a P 2138 code. This is for the accelerator pedal position sensor 1 and 2 correlation.Hope this helps.
