How do i clean the soot out of the inside of my warm morning heater? It has been blowing soot out the back for three winters.

You should have this looked at by a professional HVAC person. If it is indeed producing soot, it is also producing CO (carbon monoxide). Soot forms when, whatever fuel is being burned, there is poor or incomplete combustion taking place. Don't bother cleaning it until someone looks at it!

Don't take this lightly, CO will kill you.

Hi i have audi a3 tdi. 2. car and there is a indication of soot while i am drving the car and i lost the power now car wont start , can u tell me the how can i avoide that kind of indications and how

Soot builds up in the vehicle's exhaust system and can trigger this kind of behavior. This typically happens when the vehicle is used in an urban setting a lot, and rarely is driven on the highway. You may need to have the vehicle's exhaust examined, and cleaned if possible.
This is a typical fault with most modern diesel cars.

Soot / smoke accumulates on front rims

Nothing to do with fuel economy my friend, but that black soot is brake dust from your front pads.THAT's whats doing MOST of your braking. The front.YOUR problem, believe meit is YOU,is the fact that you do not use the emergency brake ever. Each time you put that emergency brake on,it adjusts the rear brake up a bit more, until eventually you have even braking force all around.Use the emergency brake EVERY time you park the car and get out.Eventually you'll notice that the black soot is minimal, but it will always be there a bit.Just keep the rear brakes adjusted up by using the e-brake a lot when stopped. That's also why the front pads ALWAYS wear out and back are still fine.NO emergency brake use.Rigger

I have a nissan wingroad and theres always soot in the rear exhaust outlet and she doesnt smoke even when i rev

soot is normal to be seen in the rear exhaust outlet, as long as it's black soot. If the engine doesn't burn oil excessively, then this is nothing to be worried about.

Mercedes w220 s320 cdi grey smoke on hard acceleration

Unless there are warning lights indicating some sort of mechanical malfunction I would not worry about this. If this were a gasoline engine it would be disconcerting. Diesels on the other hand are more prone to producing soot, and in recent years have come under attack for this reason. The reason this happens is that when you are accelerating hard you are forcing more fuel to be burned in each firing cycle. Soot is simply the product of inefficient combustion.

The DPF is designed to 'Burn off' the soot deposits that accumulate, but in order for this to happen the exhaust has to become really hot. The DPF will fill up if the vehicle does a lot of short trips and the exhaust fails to get hot. The cure is a long hard drive

My dodge ram van has a diagnostic code P0478. Is this easy to fix, can I drive the van?

That code indicates a erratic signal from the exhaust pressure control valve. Take off the hose that comes off the control valve and see if it is partially plugged up with exhaust soot. If so, a simple cleaning will solve your problem.
