It would help to know what Chevrolet car or truck to be more specific.
In general, The battery cable and one or two wires with fuseable links will connect to one large lug (the other large lug is the starter motor itself).
Then there will be at least one wire with a small eyelet (may be a purple wire. The heat could make the color a bit off) that connects to the "S" terminal of the solenoid.

SOURCE: Looks like rust on our plastic trimming on vehicle...

Only thing I can think is that is iron dust that has settled itself in to plastic. I would try a toothbrush or small nylon brush and some CLR from hardware store. CLR = Calcium, Lime & Rust remover. Brush it on a few times and let it work in, then scrub with toothbrush, or similar small brush to work it in and let it sit a while again, then add some more and scrub, then rinse with water and see what happens.

Has to go somewhere
I would disagree & say it is going out the exhaust
Rings or Valve Seals !!!
Have your exhaust reading taken & see what gases
you get.

I considered that but my fuse box (under the hood) doesn't show one for the area we're talking about. I know there must be another one somewhere but I don't know where

Go to a repair shop with a Data Base

Driver side door removal of 1997 lexus es 300

Gently don't force anything. 1st check for any visible screws on door trim & undo. remove window winder if not power window you can buy a tool for this. carfully pull the trim out from the bottom of the door & work up. You will probably find it stops near the door handle. There is probably hidden screws behind the inner door handle trim & don't forget arm rests. just be gentle & yu should work it out & not brake anything

99 ram rattling in catalytic converter

I would have thought you would know the answer
seeing as how you have a rattle in the exhaust converter

PO420 & or PO430 are always Converter Efficiency BelowThreshold

An Exhaust Converter last about 14 years tops

The rattle is broken ceramic honeycone material that is possibly
blocking your exhaust.

It not only effects your idle, you won't pass inspection & the converter
isn't doing much,so the oxygen sensors report misleading info to
your vehicles computer & then there is no way it can adjust the fuel
injector timing or pulse width. So it runs crappy

Need a new converter & the upsteam O2 Sensor,do the rear on if
you want to,I would given it's age but most don't suggest they
get replaced until they fail

When cold it is running on the fuel strategy based off your last
trip,eg: from you long term fuel trim.
When it warms up & goes into closed loop, then it depends on
the O2 Sensors for short term fuel trim. That is while your driving
You have a damaged converter & short trim is of,as the oxygen
in the converter isn't working to convert the other gases to water
vapor.

How to chang fuse for dash board lights

Alrighty. Judging by your owner's manual (the online version), there is a trim panel underneath the right hand side of the instrument panel (should be underneath the steering wheel). You will need to take that off (it looks like 4/6 bolts/screws), and then there is the fusebox cover, pull that lightly off, too. Now, when you're looking at the fuses, there should be a long, unbroken string of 11 blade-type fuses on one side. You are wanting to get at fuse #6. It is a 15 amp blade-type fuse. After that, reinstall the fuse cover and the trim panel. If I'm unclear, and I'm not ruling this out, let me give you a good link to the manual I used: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/?link=002&urlfile=/pubs/content/~WO5F12/~MUS~LEN/36/05f12og5e.pdf . Straight from Ford. I wish you the best of luck-and I'm not a Ford person, but if something goes wrong, don't be afraid to grab me back to help more.

The windshield wipers intermittent mode quit functioning. I don't know why, I've checked the fuses.

Sad to say its bad controller box, I just had to replace the controller for mine as well but on the bright side the same box is used in many Grand and Normal Cherokees for a good few years (i pulled the one form my dead '92 Cherokee and it was perfect) so scrap yards commonly have them in stock for much cheaper then a dealer or box store... it is located behind the plastic trim piece on the wall to the left of the peddles.

It sometimes don't go over into overdrive but when it goes in there is no prolem can it be the wrong oil. The ABS light stays on. What oil must I use

The ABS Light is where you start

Just another Malfunction Lamp on your dash

Have the abs system checked, to get the code &
repaired first
May just be a wheel speed sensor

The Oil -- I assume is trans fluid, that your referring to
How would anything but trans fluid be in the trans?
You have several types ,so you must know which
type goes into almost all chrysler vehicles & it is in the
owners manual & on the dip stick

When your having the abs checked out,ask about the
overdrive issue, by going on a road test, with you driving
& a mechanic riding or don't leave the truck at that shop

Hi, it's possible the bulb is burned out or not making good contact with the circuit board. It should come on during the bulb check when you first turn the key on. Pull out the cluster and check the bulb. If it's good, see if you can clean the contact surfaces to get it working again. Or, move to another state where they don't worry about stupid things like a light bulb.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the two steering column shroud-to-panel retaining screws and remove the shroud.
  3. Remove the lower instrument panel trim.
  4. Remove the cluster trim cover from the instrument panel by removing the eight screws.
  5. Remove the four instrument cluster to panel retaining screws.
  6. Position the cluster slightly away from the panel for access to the back of the cluster to disconnect the speedometer.

If there is not sufficient access to disengage the speedometer cable from the speedometer, it may be necessary to remove the speedometer cable at the transmission and pull cable through cowl, to allow room to reach the speedometer quick disconnect.
  1. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the printed circuit, and any bulb-and-socket assemblies from the wiring harness to the cluster assembly and remove the cluster assembly from the instrument panel.

To install:
  1. Apply approximately 1 / 8 in. diameter ball of D7AZ-19A331-A Silicone Dielectric compound or equivalent in the drive hole of the speedometer head.
  2. Position the cluster near its opening in the instrument panel.
  3. Connect the wiring harness connector to the printed circuit, and any bulb-and-socket assemblies from the wiring harness to the cluster assembly.
  4. Position the cluster to the instrument panel and install the four cluster to panel retaining screws.
  5. Install the panel trim covers and the steering column shroud.
  6. Connect the battery ground cable.
  7. Check operation of all gauges, lamps and signals.
