Would a bad cam shaft sensor are crankshaft position sensor cause my 98 s10 with a 2.2 motor to not get gas through injectors and not run all it does is turn over and won't spray gas out injectors

Check your fuel pump, and fuel pump relay before continuing with any other diagnostics.

SOURCE: cam shaft sensor & air conditioner

I replaced the Cam Shaft Sensor. I also cleaned the Throttle Body with carb cleaner. I had my wife hold down the accelerator, while running I sprayed down the throttle plate and the entire area around it. Now my TB finally idles smoothly, and it hasn't died yet!! Check engine light is gone and I passed the emissions test!! Yea!!!

There are no cam shaft position sensors in this model. Check your spark plugs and the wires (boots, etc.) I had the same problem. Also a common problem in this model: if it over heats check your coolant temperature sensor. Jack up one side (drivers) of the car so less leaks out when you check it. The ones that come in the car usually crack, use the copper ones.

turn the key to the on position a see if you can here a buzzing sound around the fuel tank,if you don't hear a sound then. (be very careful while doing this) with the key off take a fuel line coming from the tank loose,make sure its pointed away from you and turn the key to the on position,see if any gas comes out,if not then your fuel pump is probably bad.

2-0L-2.4L I-4 crankshaft sensor mounts to the engine block, behind the alternator, just above the oil filter. 2.5L V-6 crankshaft sensor mounts to transaxle just below the distributor.

the purpose of the crank position sensor is to tell the ECM where the piston is so that the ignition can fire the coil and to the plug at the correct time
if it is defective , it will not allow it to fire , , run properly

when you see mechanical fault and you have a sluggish engine or other problems , it could be that the cam control servo is malfunctioning and that is reporting as a correlation problem because the ECM is getting varying readings as to where the cam position really is in relation to the crank position and rpm

2007 Saturn Aura XR 3.6 code p00116. new timing chains and all parts...128,000 miles any ideas besides the crankshaft reluctor.. Car runs great idols smooth

you got a bit carried away with the code
code p 0016 refers to crank shaft position/cam shaft position sensor, bank 1 sensor A---correlation === causes --wiring---CKP sensor --CMP sensor ---mechanical fault
code p 0011 refers to cam shaft (CMP) intake /left /front bank 1 --timing over advanced / system performance==== causes ---valve timing---engine mechanical fault --- CMP actuator ---wiring
you didn't mention the fault so consider this
if the timing is out on the intake cam shaft , it will idle good but play up as the timing actuator moves it further advanced with rpm
if the actuator is not wire properly or the solenoid is faulty , then the inlet will lag with increased rpm and again cause you problems
It is doubtful if the position sensors for either the crank or cam shafts are a problem because it starts and idles good

The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and Camshaft position sensor (CMP) work in harmony to control the spark/fuel delivery and timing. They both consist of a reluctor, or tone, ring which passes over a magnetic sensor, which generates a voltage, indicating position. The crankshaft sensor is part of the primary ignition system and functions as the "trigger". It detects the position of the crankshaft relays that information on to the PCM or the ignition module (depending on the vehicle) to control spark timing. The Camshaft position sensor detects the position of the camshafts and relays the information to the PCM. The PCM uses the CMP signal to identify the beginning of the injector sequence. What ties these two shafts and their sensors together is the timing belt or chain. The cam and crank should be precisely timed together. Driving car on freeway heard a ping car dies out. Car wont turn over. Changed gas fuel in in gas tank, still wont turn over, changed the crank shaft sensor and still wont turn over but the is getting gas...

turning over is cranking but not starting/running
not turning over indicates seized motor , bad battery starter motor problems , bad ground
turning over is cranking but not starting ---broken timing belt/chain, crank/cam position sensors , no fuel , no spark , no injector operation
best run the fault codes as the fauty will be recorded there

1998 elantra was running fine and motor just died. Will turn over fine but will not start. I had filled up with fuel and driven about 50 miles when this happened.

Is the engine getting fuel and spark?

Try to put a few teaspoons of gas in the throttle body to see if it starts up. If it doesn't then the engine's spark plugs may not getting spark.

A possible coil may be the root of the above problem.

If it does start and run for a few seconds then the spark is good, but the fuel pump may not be pressurizing (bad fuel pump) or the fuel injectors are not firing (possible PCM or Powertrain Control Module).

A crankshaft position sensor can also cause a no start condition.
It is located near the Crankshaft of the engine.

I have error cde PO016 will clear for 20 min. then comes back on
