Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I have a For 5AHR60XXD-L Series Fan from monte carlo fan that has begun to show signs of vibration. This is the second time I have installed it and during the first install everything worked perfectly. I would like to say that I absolutely love this fan, however I am a little concerned about the shaking and vibrating. I might also add that I am an electrician so I have years of experience installing fans.

Better make sure the fan works. There is a switch on the radiator that turns the fan on when it gets to a certain temperature. It could be the fan or the switch. Your thermostat is not your cap, it's in a different location. (Usually at the engine end of the upper radiator hose) Get the leak check! A good garage can pressure test the system to see what leaks you might have.

SOURCE: 2001 Monte Carlo Fan Problem

The electrical contacts in position 1 and 2 of the fan speed control switch have worn out, go to your favorite Chevrolet dealer and order a new fan speed control switch, get it from the dealer so that you know you are getting true GM OEM parts not an aftermarket part that won't have the GM quality, it may cost a little more but you will be ahead in the long run. Good luck !

2002 monte carlo ss the will start but the engine cooling fan want start

The engine cooling fan is controlled by a thermostatic switch. From your description, I believe you are assuming the fan comes on immediately when the engine starts. Not so. It only comes on when a certain temperature is reached

The passenger side fan should only come on while driving at highway speeds, to offer additional cooling help to cool down car, the Driver side fan is for when parked, ideling, city traffic, and air conditioner use. At least that is what i was told.

95 monte carlo 3.1 cooling fan comes on at 3/4 temp, when the coolant temp sensor is disconnected both fans run strongly until car is shut off, but when its connected only 1 fan will come on at 3/4 temp

to check both fans work at high temps put a sheet of card over the rad to block off airflow and run engine till hot, keeping an eye on when they both start (one is set at a lower temp than the other),if the second fan dont start when the engine is really hot THEN you have a problem.....

Fan switch only works on #5

There is a series of resistance-wire coils inserted into the ductwork. The different fan-speed selections add one or more of these coils in series with the fan, and the air flowing through the ductwork keeps the coils of wire from getting too hot. Look for a connector apparently plugged onto a small plate screwed to the side of the ductwork (maybe 1½" × 3 ") often right under the glove compartment.

I think that one of those coils of wire that is used for every speed selection but 5 is broken. High speed just connects straight positive power to the fan with none of those coils of resistance wire included.

Where in the heck is the radiator fuses on a 2003 chevy monte carlo SS. The passenger side fan motor has quit but is showing it has power when tested with a testing light?

if you have power there then the fuses are good or relays but if you have power then you ethier have a bad fan or ground wire also that fan should only come on when the ac is on

2000 Monte Carlo SS (89,000 mi)

That slushy brown stuff is signs of a blown head gasket. Have a code scanner hooked up to find out why the light is on, it will probably show coolant temperature sensor. Just out of curiosity, check the pvc valve (if your car has one), and see if it's clogged. If it is replace it, the crank case is not getting ventilated.
