I apologize as I did not explain myself thoroughly. The anti-theft system on that unit is called a Passlock Security System. There is a Version 1 and a version 2. I ran across the same problem that you have encountered. To start with you need to lock the doors and get out just like you were leaving the vehicle. Do you have a door lock key? That is where it really all starts. I am hoping you respond yes. Step1: Unlock the locked drivers door with the key. Get into vehicle and shut the door. Step 2: Place the ignition key into the switch and turn it to the ON position, engine off. Then to the start position (just like it was going to start) turn it over until it starts then quits or whatever it does, the switch should be in the run position now. Look on the instrument cluster and locate the "SECURITY," lamp it should be illuminated at this point. Leave the switch on until that SECURITY light goes out. Some folks say this is a ten minute process...I have seen it take 6 hours for that light to go out (depending on what type of system) so make sure you have enough battery for these steps. When you notice the light is out turn the switch to the OFF position. Wait 5 seconds then repeat the procedure I went just over 2 more times for a total of 3. This part is crucial because this is where the PASSLOCK anti-theft module recognizes and accepts the new switch and its code. NOTE: After that third time of doing the previous steps to get the SECURITY light to go out. The switch must be turned to the off position FIRST, then wait 5 seconds before trying to start the engine. The engine should now start and run normal. I hope this helped.

How do I reset the security system on a Mazda BT 50 CRD 3.0 2012 MODEL

There is not reset per say, what is going on here is a fault in the security system, that requires a scan tool to look into the cause, the problem here is the fault in most cases must be going on and present to detect it.

Security light flashes

Antitheft or Security system failure is a common problem on GM vehicles. Every time you put your key in the ignition, the vehicle's security system reads the signal from your key to make sure it is OK to run. When it recieves the "correct key" signal, the security system allows the starter to turn over, and/or the fuel injectors to function and your car works like it normally does every day. If you were to use a different key, or try to hotwire it, the system would shut down these parts of your car, thus making the vehicle completely immobile. This is GM's way of preventing vehicle theft. The problem is that the system is known to fail quite commonly. It has been failing consistantly for around 30 years. When it fails, two things can happen. First, you turn the key and nothing happens at all. Lights work, radio works, windows work... just not the starter that you need to start the vehicle. This is a "starter immobilizor". Second, you turn the key and the vehicles starts just fine, but then stalls in 2-5 seconds. This is a "fuel immobilizor". It literally cuts off the fuel injectors and stalls the vehicle to immobilize it. These are normally, but not always followed by a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. These lights are to inform you of the system's failure to collect the information it needs from your key to the computer. If your security/antitheft light is on, odds are you will be stranded soon, if not already. Remember that the security system controls the security light. If the system is failing, the light may never warn you of the failure. There is a lot of info on this site that you can read up on. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

the lamps you need to watch the lamps. they don't lie.
so now it dont start (but cranks)
the operators guide tells you what the lights mean, lost that.?
2 lamps are security or IMMOBILIZers have a lamp
  • off means OK
  • on means its bad ( locked out, )
  • flashing means that system is sick.
generally. got both lamps? look carefully.

IMMO kills engine, if car is tired to start. with wrong key. (and or fob)
security is theft alarm. and some cut spark others cut fuel other cut
some even cut cranking,
does yours crank?
or cranks ok but wont start.
no matter the lamps are FIRST> never last. never replace parts until you know what the lamps mean.

see this?

Passlock: System must detect proper R-code within ignition lock (or ignition switch) in order to start engine. Does NOT have chip in key.

look at the lamp, and do not dis believe it,

Safety mode ??
The headlights should work without the key switch being on.
If the security system is not reading the chip in the key, the engine should not start.
Have you checked the fuses and fuseable links ?

This is most likely the sensor in the ignition switch. I haven't really seen a bad one, but the wire going to them break. They are smaller than a needle. I have repaired quite a few of them, but if the wire breaks right at the sensor then it's over. you have to replace it (lock cylinder set). Then it has to be programmed to the car.(dealer only) $200.00 to$300.00 By the time your done with it.

When you turn the key and start the car it will start but when you release the key the car quits running

This is caused by a defective ignition start switch, this is the electrical switch that powers up the electrical system when u turn the key, replace that switch. The switch is on the back side of the ignition key cylinder, see picture below, cost is about $20.00 for the switch, easy to replace, just take the plastic covers off the steering column

It may be as simple as trying a different key but the security systems on gm vehicles have had problems with the ignition cylinders going bad and preventing the car from starting.
