2002 escape pass hub..pressed bearing onto new hub ..but doesn't fit.. Looks like part of old bearing collar still in knuckle??? What do I do??

Take it to a parts store with a machine shop and have them press the old outer bearing race out and the new bearing in.

Here is the easiest way . take a 14mm socket and extentsion and place it on the bolts and place againt your axle tube and start your truck and turn your wheel against it instead of pounding you will use your powersteering like a press to get your hub out its quicker and less strenous than pounding on the bolts ive done this many times i even made a extentsion for it i use a 14mm 1/2 drive shallow socket and a extension thats about 4 inches long i know im posting late on this one but if it helps anyone out then great

How do i replace rear wheel bearings


Remove tire, brake caliper, rotor, and abs sensor. Remove complete steering knuckle with hub, rotor sensor, splash shield, and bearing with seals from tie rod, strut, and ball joint. Take complete steering knuckle with hub, rotor sensor, splash shield, and bearing with seals to auto machine shop to have old bearing and seals, and rotor sensor with hub pressed out and new bearing and seals, and rotor sensor with hub pressed in. Don't forget the splash shield that fits between the the steering knuckle and rotor sensor with hub. Reassemble in reverse order. Pay special attention to abs wheel speed sensor specifications. I have a 06 cayon and the bearing in the left hand spindle need replace the spindle assembly to me thats the it looks


Well, I guess it comes down to what you are calling a "spindle". The hub and bearing assembly comes out of the steering knukle. Yes, the hub and wheel studs are part of the bearing assembly. It doesn't really have a "spindle" in the old-fashioned sense. Assuming that your Canyon is a 4X4, the hub and bearing assembly comes of like this:

Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assmbly. Remove the brake caliper assembly and brake pads. Remove the Caliper Bracket from the steering knuckle. Remove the disc brake rotor. Remove the large nut from the end of the drive axle. Disconnect the electrical connector for the wheel speed sensor. Push the drive axle inward to gain access to, and remove the 3 bolts securing the bearing and hub assembly on the inside of the steering knuckle. Beat the S**T out of the bearing and hub assembly to make it come loose from the steering knuckle. (They ommitted this step in the service manual - LOL!)

Reverse steps to install. (it shouldn't be necessary to beat the new bearing though :) )

How to remove hub assembly bearing


I wasn't sure if you were asking about the front, rear wheel or other assembly.
The most common problem is the front wheel bearing:
I have a 2002 Escape and have changed my bearings. All the Ford Escapes are the same thru 2010. The front wheel bearings on the Escape are simple cartridge bearings, or Gen1 bearings, that are pressed onto the hub and knuckle. They are not so simple to replace. Unless you have the experience and tools, you'll need to take it to the dealer or a shop.

You will need a press and the correct press tools.
The knuckle/hub assembly needs to be removed from the vehicle.

Here's the short version:
Remove the tire/wheel.
Remove the brake caliper w/ bracket.
Remove rotor.
Remove the ABS sensor.
Remove axle nut and press the axle inwards, until loose. (sometimes easy, usual needs special tool).
Remove the strut bolts, tie rod, and the lower ball joint from the knuckle/hub assembly. Each of these connections can have it's issues.
Press the hub out of the assembly. One half of the inner race will be stuck on the hub. Use a bearing splitter to remove that half.
Remove the snap ring from the knuckle.
Press the rest of the bearing from the knuckle.
Press the new bearing into the knuckle. Press on the outer race only!
Snap ring.
Make sure the dust sheild is still in place.
Press the hub into the bearing. The bearing must be supported on the inner race only!
The point is that you must not press thru the balls in the bearing. That can cause the bearing to get brinnelled.... not good.
Reassemble the knuckle on the vehicle in reverse order. I like to put a little grease on the axle spline. The axle spline has a little helix on it... about half a degree. It's supposed to be a tight fit. The torque on the axle nut is 300Nm (about 220ft-lbs?). This torque is very, very important. It is needed to keep the bearing together and at the correct preload, so use a big torque wrench.

...or you can take it to the dealer.

How do i pull the hub off my 2002 mazda , on drivers side front


REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Except Miata FRONT
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Steering knuckle from the vehicle
    • Inner oil seal from the knuckle
  3. Using Mazda Hub Puller tools 49 G033 102, 49 G033 104 and 49 G033 105, pull the front wheel hub from the knuckle assembly.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Bearing inner race from the front wheel hub
    • Retaining ring from within the knuckle
    • Front wheel bearing from the knuckle, using the hub puller tools
    • Brake dust shield
  5. Clean and inspect all parts but do not wash or clean the wheel bearing. The bearing must be replaced. To install:
  6. Using Mazda Press tools 49 G033 107 and 49 H026 103, install a new dust shield cover assembly to the knuckle.
  7. Using the press tools, press a new wheel bearing into the knuckle assembly.
  8. Install or connect the following:
    • Wheel bearing retaining ring
    • New oil seal using Installation tool 49 V001 795
    • Front wheel hub using the Mazda press tools
REAR
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section. NOTE: The wheel bearings are not serviceable. If the bearings are bad, a new hub/bearing assembly must be installed.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Rear wheels Fig. 1: Exploded view of the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly (disc brake model shown, drum is similar) 7923mg87.gif

    • Brake drum, if equipped
    • Rear caliper and rotor assembly from the hub, if equipped
    • Hub dust cover
  3. Raise the staked portion of the hub retaining nut with a hammer and chisel.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Hub retaining nut and discard it
    • Hub and bearing assembly from the spindle Fig. 2: When installing the new hub nut, be sure to stake it into the notch on the spindle 7923mg86.gif
    To install:
  5. Install or connect the following:
    • Bearing assembly on the spindle. Torque the new nut to 131-173 ft. lbs. (177-235 Nm)
    • Stake the nut into the groove in the spindle
    • Dust cover
    • Assemble the brakes

If you are talking about the front wheel hub assemblies, the bearing is pretty difficult to replace. It can not be repaired or adjusted.

I have a 2002 Escape and have replaced the front wheel bearings. Here are some instructions and pictures:

I need a front wheel bearing diagram for a ford escape 2002


The front wheel bearings on the escapes are pressed in. If you plan on doing it yourself you will need to remove the entire knuckle and then have a machine shop or service center press out the old bearing and press in the new bearing.

To remove the knuckle you will
Remove the caliper and rotor
separate the lower ball joint from the knuckle
remove the axle nut
remove the knuckle to strut bolts.

After you have the new bearing installed and everything is back together make sure you tighten the axle nut to the proper spec. Failure to due so will cause premature failure of the bearing.

How to replace a Jaguar X Type fron wheel bearing

Wheel Bearings
Removal & Installation
  1. Remove the brake disc.
  2. Remove and discard the retaining clip. Detach the ABS sensor.
  3. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
  4. Remove the wheel hub and bearing retaining bolts.
  5. Remove the wheel hub and bearing.
  6. Prior to applying sealer, clean the ABS sensor sealing surface and the ABS sensor aperture sealing surface.
  7. Install a new O-ring seal.
  8. Apply a 2.5mm bead of Loctite Ultra Blue 587 Silicone (RTV) sealer to the ABS sensor sealing surface.
  9. Install a new ABS sensor retaining clip.
  10. Install the hub/bearing assembly. Tighten to 90 Nm.

  1. Remove wheel knuckle.
NOTE When removing the wheel hub from the wheel knuckle the bearing will be destroyed and the bearing inner ring will remain on the wheel hub.

  2. Support the wheel knuckle on special tools.
NOTE Make sure wheel bearing is correctly orientated with the colored side facing inboard.

  2. Using special tools, press bearing into wheel knuckle.
  3. Change special tool 204-312 to 204-313.
  4. Align the bearing and wheel knuckle over special tool.
  5. Slide wheel hub over the guide and align to the bearing.
  6. Using special tools install the wheel hub.
  7. Install the wheel knuckle.

  1. Raise front of vehicle and support on stands.
  2. Remove appropriate road wheel.
  3. Using wire or string, secure brake caliper to road spring to take weight off brake hose.
  4. Raise vehicle sufficient to provide access for special tool 204-111.
  5. Install special tool 204-111 in road spring.
  6. Slacken tool adjuster to suit spring length.
  7. Install adaptor and thrust collar.
  8. Position stem of tool in center of spring passing dowel through slot in suspension turret.

NOTE When turning tool adjuster, ensure that tool stem does not rotate and disturb position of dowel in suspension turret.
  1. Engage dowel of special tool 204-111 in suspension turret and rotate to position across slot.
  2. Lower vehicle onto stands.
  3. Rotate tool adjuster to tension spring.
  4. Remove wheel speed sensor securing screw and withdraw sensor from vertical link.
  5. Remove nut securing tie rod outer ball joint to steering arm.
  6. Release ball joint from vertical link.
  7. Install special tool 211-098 on tie rod outer ball joint.
  8. Tighten tool bolt to release taper pin from vertical link.
  9. Remove special tool from ball joint and position tie rod for access.
  10. Remove nut securing upper control arm ball joint to vertical link.

How to replace a wheel bearing on a 2005 ford escape 4x4


All the Ford Escapes (thru 2011) have a Gen1 cartridge type bearing on the front. I'm pretty sure that the bearing is also the same for all Escapes; FWD and AWD, V6 and I4. I'm not sure, but I suspect the Hybrids are the same also.
The Gen1 bearing is difficult to replace yourself unless you have access to a hydraulic press.
The bearing has a press fit into the knuckle and the wheel hub. For most people, I would recommend the dealer or a decent shop.

If you're brave, here are the shorthand steps to replace the bearing:
Remove the wheel/tire.
Remove the brake caliper and rotor.
Remove the ABS sensor. It's a small bolt, be careful.
Remove the axle nut and press the axle shaft out (You should use a special tool for this) Beating it with a hammer is NOT recommended and will damage the axle threads. It's not stuck or rusty, the spline on the axle has a slight Helix that locks it to the hub.
Remove the lower ball joint. Do this first, while the strut and tie rod are still connected, because you might have to really work it over. Remove the cross (pinch) bolt and nut. Pull the ball joint out. If stuck, you may have to open the pinch joint a little with a punch or chisel.
Remove the tie rod nut and the tie rod from the knuckle.
Remove the 2 strut bolts.

I'm pretty sure that the knuckle/hub assembly is now loose, then:
Press the hub out of the bearing. Half of the inner bearing race will be stuck on the hub.
Press that inner race off the hub. Maybe a "bearing splitter" will work.
Remove the snap ring from the knuckle.
Press the rest of the bearing out of the knuckle. It's OK to press against the inner race; you're going to replace it anyway. (Note: whatever you're doing, don't try to save the bearing. Don't.)
The new bearing can be installed either way; it's symetrical.
Press the new bearing into the knuckle. Press on the outer race only! Do not press across the inner race. You can use the old outer race as a press tool. Do not damage the seal retainer or seal.
Insert the snap ring. Make sure it's fully seated. Check it again.
Press the hub into the bearing. Do NOT press thru the knuckle (and the bearing) as a base. You must support the bearing at the inner race. Using the knuckle will damage the bearing, and you'll be doing this all over in about 500 miles.

The knuckle can be reinstalled on the vehicle in whatever order you want, but I recommend putting some grease on the spline and put it on the axle first and hand start the nut. You can torque the nut later. The axle nut torque is 300Nm (220Ft-lbs).
