I have a 2000 Ford Windstar, how would I disconnect the bell that dings when I put my key in the ignition?

Find fuse box, look at cover pull that fuse out

while it is possible to perform that swap, the newer 2000+ transmissions will have updated internals and such.

so will it work............. yes.

is it optimal.................no.

If the mounts are okay and you are getting a hard slam it could be the TFT (Transmission Fluid Temp sensor in the trans pan) or the Pressure control solenoid in the valve/control body.

Hi, My 1998 ford wind-star van 3.8 lit. started smoking under the steering column. Just a small amount. I turned the van off and now it won't start. I took the panels off but didn't locate any bad wiring. The battery was low so I charged it up but it wasn't the battery. I turned the key several more times and it finally started. When I got home and turned it off it wouldn't start back up again. Please HELP!!! Greg

Dinging bell on dodge caravan wont turn off even if key is removed lights out and door closed.
Check for play in ignition switch.If too much weight on keyring ignition switch may become damaged allowing key to be removed when switch is not actually fully in "off" position.

one of the door ajar switches are sticking. needs to be put on the computer to find out which one. only other way is to go around and unplug the switches until your light shuts off.

When I open the drivers side door without a key in the ignition the bell dings. I have a 2000 ford excursion limited.
try wiggling the ignition switch and see if it stops if it does it is the key in the ignition warning switch persoally i wouldn't worry about it if it is if it does you will have to replace it and ign tumble most likley

You need a door pin switch in the drivers door. It must have gone bad, and this is very common. Usually it is hard to find out what door it is that is causing it, but in your case with the dinging bell- it thinks the drivers door is open- thast why the dome light stays on. The door pin switch is a little sensor that is installed on the latch assembly with a wire going to it and it is supposed to sence if the door is open or closed and turn the dome light on/off. you have to remove the door pannel and reach back to the latch. They are VERY tricky to get out without taking the whole latch assembly out. The part shouldnt be that expensive though.

1998 Saab Bell will not stop dinging, even when key is removed.
the lights are most likely the third brake light on the decklid... small line of led brake lights small unit.. i would clean the ignition switch with some quick start and cycle the key in and out to clean up the contact on the bottom some times soda or coffe gets in there and makes the car think that the cars key is in the ignition
