SOURCE: Ford Escape engine light on/blinking, faint knocking noise

If your check engine light came on when the problem occurred, then you need to have the diagnostic codes read. I am cheap, so I would suggest going to an Advance or Auto Zone, they will read the codes and interpret them for you in hopes of selling you the part that will fix it. Good Luck. I hope you find this very helpful!

SOURCE: idles poorly , and its like its starving for fuel or air

1. Vacuum leaks. Check all mounting bolts at the intake, check all hoses by wiggling them around. Listen with stethoscope or a length of fuel hose held up to your ear with engine running. You will be looking for a hissing sound. 2. Check egr valve. 3. Check air filter. 4. Check timing belt. ( you will need a timing light) If the mark is jumping around, your belt has jumped. If it stays basically in one place, it's good. 5. Check camshaft lobes. 6. Valves burnt or leaking. 7 Dirty or clogged injectors. 8 . Faulty idle control system.

SOURCE: Have 2002 Ford Escape, Where's the Radiator Cap??

This is where you fluid goes. If I were you, I would stay away from those sealants. But yes you can put the sealant in the reserve, but it;s best if you drain half the water out, pour in coolant and then re-fill. This gives it a better chance to flow throughout the system. Sometimes these sealants can cause more harm than good in the long run.

When I drive my 2005 ford escape I sometimes smell something burning?

Either it is due to heat from engine I.e. burning dripped oil or clutch issues.incorrect use of clutch I.e. Slipping it or resting foot on it will cause the clutch fluid to burn and waft into the car interior.i once had a burning smell issue that was due to a bin liner getting stuck underneath the engine which caused it to melt and emit a terrifying smell that caused a few days of anguish.

Burning smell inside car. Not under hood. What could it be?

I had the same problem with my 2005 Honda Accord. I would happen only sometime but is a distant odor I smell from inside the cabin. Older Hondas sometimes have gasket problems that leak small amounts of oil onto the exhaust manifold. Ask the mechanic to go check the valve cover gaskets. They replaced a new gasket to my car at the Honda dealer and I haven't smelled that burning odor since then. Good luck.

Hello

After a car has been in storage like this it is not UNCOMMON for it to have wierd smells. For lack of a better term "GOO" from the world, a bird that liked an unseen part of the engine block, the little mouse house inside the air filter, and a host of other things find there way on to things that get hot. I would drive it for a week or so before worrying.

I had a lady come to me once saying that she kept smelling a camp fire when she drove. When I popped the hood, it was packed with leaves, so anything is possible in this world I suppose.

I would also park the truck on some card board and see if you find any drips when you take off in the morning. Anyhow, I suspect that you have some kind of crud near something that gets hot and it will burn itself off soon.

Best of luck and welcome back to your car!

Look under the dash on the passenger side and under the hood more closely for burnt wires to the computer. If the computer has burnt wires to the instrument panel, then you found the problem.

2005 Chevy Impala exhaust smell

neither one of these would cause gas to leak. sure it is not coolant ? if you think it is gas it is not safe to drive car as it could catch on fire. possible cause would be a leaking injector.
