Will heet thaw my frozen fuel line

My van has been sitting for about a month with very little fuel in it and I added some gas to see if it would start.  It won't and I'm wondering if its too late to add heet to thaw the fuel line but I'm leery because it might harm the fuel injectors at this late date.

Its never to late to add heetand you definitley want to catch it before the fuel lines split, and adding some more gas will help too

Where do I aim a blow dryer to unthaw fuel line on 2001 Mercury Sable Ls

The fuel line runs from the gas tank (underneath) the car up to the injection rail on the engine. Since most of the fuel line is inaccessible, trying to thaw it with a hair dryer is not a good option. You could try blowing the hair dryer on the fuel filter. A better option is to get a couple bottles of HEET at your local auto parts store. Put this in the gas tank. If the fuel line is completely frozen, HEET is not likely to work. You will need to bring the vehicle inside a warm shop. If the problem is water in the fuel, HEET will prevent it from freezing in the future. A gas line will not freeze, unless there is contamination in the fuel. A fuel filter change is a must in this situation, and may solve the problem.

Its -12 ,whent to start my car and it turned over and stalled out imediatley, is my gas line frozen?

Yes, I would highly suspect (frozen) water in the fuel. Dumping a couple of bottles of heet (should be able to get at a gas station or auto parts store) in the fuel tank. This MAY work, but likely you will have to get your car towed to a warm shop. Then have them change the fuel filter. Whenever it gets real cold you could put heet in the tank as a preventative. Heet is the brand make of a alchohol gas deicer. By the way, i'm from Alaska. Were enjoying the warmest winter in years right now.

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

Hello, My Mom lives in Latrobe, anyways, yes there is a fuse to the fuel pump. and as cold as it's been you could just have frozen fuel lines, you can check the fuse but will require a fuel pressure test, you need about 35 psi to the injectors, do you have access to a heated garage ?

1997 pontiac sunfire wont start

there should be a fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail. you can push the valve with a small pin while some one turn the key on.
if you don't have fuel come out then the pump may be bad

Van had been started but not ran for approx.7 months. started ok let idle for 15/20 mins. shut off like out of gas but was not. would not restart until next morning. started with gas pedal to the floor....

You don't want to start throwing money at this thing without knowing what the problem really is; Yes, it could be a module or a coil, but it probably isn't. Electronic parts don't usually suffer from idleness, fuel systems do. The first clue is that it sat for 7 months and then ran for fifteen seconds. The fix's you try first for are the cheap ones. I would suspect a fuel problem; gas doesn't like to sit around for 7 months. Does the van have a carb or is it fuel injected? Carbs can varnish up from gas sitting in them; spraying carb cleaner in and around them will often loosen things up, in a worst case it'll have to come off the motor and be rebuilt. If the gas tank was low on gas for that seven months you'll probably have a lot of condensation in it. Water doesn't burn, so that'll keep it from starting and running, a couple of cans of Heet (isopropyl achohol) will usually fix that. If there's dirt in the system, the fuel filter will probably need to be changed. If those things don't help, you'll find it much less frustrating and usually cheaper to tow it to a reputable shop. They'll fix it right the first time.

I have a 2002 chrysler town and country and i think the gas line is frozen. what should i do? ive tried heet and more gas and nothing worked. even tried to jump start. nothing

Not much you can do if it's frozen except wait for it to thaw. Another bottle of heet may help speed that up if it is frozen but not more than that. Try rocking van a little to hopefully mix it up a bit. Can you hear fuel pump come on at all?
