Question about Hyundai Motor 2004 Sonata

1 Answer

Engine light is on

Codes indicate that the crank angle sensor is faulty although the car is running smoothly. Upon replacing the sensor the engine light remains on and the code appears indicating the crank sensor is faulty. We wiped the code and it came back on immediately.
Note: at the same time the engine light initially came on the RPM gage started fluctuating inconsistantly. All test indicate the care is running perfectly with the exception of the instances stated above.

From 96 on you need a scanner to turn off code light, go to auto zone and they will turn it off for free, just tell them the problem.with the light still on the computer thinks it still has a problem.

Switching off intermittently whilst driving over road ramps or halting at both traffic light and stop street.

If you get a code, that will likely tell you what to replace. Crank position sensor is one likely cause. Cam position sensor is another.

These sensors do go bad.

1992 volvo 740t. no spark

1) Faulty coil, connections to coil, or other secondary wire issues, cap/rotor defective
2) Faulty switching node (this is the Bosch "ignition amplifier module" on the driver's fenderwell, front.
3) Faulty crank angle sensor or connector
4) Rare, faulty ignition computer

Notes on the coil: Positive is a fused feed. Verify you have 12 VDC at this point with the coil disconnected and reference this to ground with KOEO (KP II). The 'ground' circuit is switched by the aforementioned ignition amplifier on the driver's fenderwell which is switched by the ignition module.

Crank angle sensor must be functioning for ignition system to work. If this is faulty, the entire system shuts down. This is located at the top of the bellhousing, rear of engine. Take care upon removal or installation, the bracket is fragile.

Check engine light does not go away

you can start with an OBDII scan, which you can get for free at your local parts store. This will tell you what component is malfunctioning, and then you can decide if it's worth fixing or not. But rest assured, the oil leak has nothing to do with your check engine light.

P0011 NISSAN - Intake Valve Timing Control Performance Bank 1

Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible engine lack/loss of power
- Posssible engine rough idle
Possible causes - Harness or connectors
- Intake valve timing control solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted
- Intake valve timing control solenoid valve may be faulty
- Crankshaft position sensor (POS) may be faulty
- Camshaft position sensor
Tech notes Since the Intake valve timing control solenoid valve uses oil flow to control timing, dirty oil can cause the valve to stuck open or close. Before replacing the valve, change engine oil and filter and reset engine code. When is the code detected? When there is a gap between angle of target and phase-control angle degree, the valve will stop working and the ECM will trigger the P0011 code. P0011 NISSAN Description This mechanism hydraulically controls cam phases continuously with the fixed operating angle of the intake valve.

The ECM receives signals such as crankshaft position, camshaft position, engine speed, and engine coolant temperature. Then, the ECM sends ON/OFF pulse duty signals to the intake valve timing control solenoid valve depending on driving status. This makes it possible to control the shut/open timing of the intake valve to increase engine torque in low/mid speed range and output in high-speed range.

The intake valve timing control solenoid valve changes the oil amount and direction of flow through intake valve timing control unit or stops oil flow. The longer pulse width advances valve angle. The shorter pulse width retards valve angle. When ON and OFF pulse widths become equal, the solenoid valve stops oil pressure flow to fix the intake valve angle at the control position.

Engine will just keep cranking, stutter at times even die while driving, have replaced fuel pump, o2 sensors, now have found its more than likely crankshaft position sensor, I'm not sure where it is...

Quite often the crank angle sensor is located at the front of the engine down near the bottom pulley that sits on the end of the crank. You should see (under the grime :) ) a small sensor with a pigtail leading to wiring harness. This should be your crank angle sensor.
It might be far easier to get your vehicle checked either via a diagnostic or sometimes you can put a loop back wire in to generate basic codes. This of course depends upon the system OBD or OBDII
Then you read the codes which are usually the amount of times the engine check light blinks or similar and you then check that code against a code list. Most good workshop manuals will have code lists and information on how to check your codes.

Engine problem indicator will not turn off,car runs smooth, temperature lower than normal ?

If the Engine light is on, That means the car's computer has detected a problem in your car and stored a code. So you need to scan it to see whats wrong even if the car is running smooth, Any autopart store will scan the car for you for free and give you the code. Good luck

Car runs greAt BUT FLASHES LITE PO300 P1781

P0300 is a random engine misfire code. P 1781 is a transmission code, but it refers to a malfunctioning engine speed signal (crankshaft angle sensor). A bad crankshaft angle sensor or camshaft angle sensor can cause the P0300 code. A large list of items can cause a P0300 code, but since you have both, I'd be checking the crankshaft angle sensor and the related circuit. Sometimes, the mounting screws loosen up, which can cause the sensor to not function properly, all the time. Get this fixed, because over a period of 4 to 6 months, this can destroy the catalytic converter in the exhaust system ($$$$)
