You had a short circuit electrical problem and most likely the fuse has opened to prevent a fire.
You need an auto electrician to fix your problem

If the dash lights and gauges do not work then the electrical wiring to these has open circuit. Check the fuse to these circuits again. It helps if you have a wiring diagram so you can trace the wiring to the lights and guages.

SOURCE: its runnining close to hot

Was it smoke, or steam? Sometimes, especially if a vehicle overheats, it will blow a head gasket, or even crack a head. This leads to lots of other problems. But the signs are steam coming from the engine compartment.
Solution: First step; When the engine is cool, after it has been sitting for a while, say an hour or so, remove the coolant cap and fill the radiator, or overflow reservoir while the engine is running To ensure that the system is properly filled and properly functioning. When the engine warms up it will circulate the water that you are putting into the engine and fill the cooling system.
Continue to let the engine run until the vehicle's temperature starts to indicate that the engine is warming up. Continue to watch it for a few minutes to make sure that it doesn't overheat. If it starts to smoke or steam then the problem is larger than just being out of coolant. Cracked heads, and blown head gaskets are sometimes tedious and costly repairs.

SOURCE: 99 cavalier Smoke coming out from under dashboard!

now this may be a long shot... but i had a similar problem on my cutlass. but it wasnt wiring...... it was from the tube running from the head of my engine...... the smell and smoke were coming from hot oil coming out of the crank case vent tube and then being sucked into the air inlet for the heater/ ac.

since a electrical wire's protective cover is petroleum based as is oil.... they smell very similar

Would a faulty egr valve on my 02 PT Cruiser 2.2crd cause excessive black smoke and injector knock under full throttle....thanks

black smoke is over fueling and although the turbo appears to spin ok the vale variation actuator may not be operating correctly
there are vanes in the exhaust turbine housing that are altered to increase the exhaust gas flow onto the turbine blades for quicker acceleration and these vanes are operated by a vacuum actuator and rod by a sensor
the vanes are subject to extreme heat and can rust stuck open or the hose gets hard and cracks
s not allowing the vanes to work
I would be concentrating in this area before the EGR valve
run the fault codes as well to get a better idea of the possible fault as some systems only put the light on for extreme conditions in engine and transmission

89' Blazer S10: None of the gauges on my dash work

Smoke isn't a good thing. When you shut the engine off the engine actually heats up some prior to cooling down because the coolant isn't running through the engine any longer. When you have electric fans, that's why they stay on for a few minutes after the car has shut off. Is the smoke coming from the fuse panel on the fender well or could it be your valve cover gaskets leaking onto the exhaust manifolds?

Air only comes out of dash no defrost or floor heat

There will be a vacuum line running from the intake manifold, hard plastic, about the diameter of a 14
gauge wire. Look for breaks,if you see none try have someone blow cigarette smoke in the engine end of the line and look under the dash for the smoke, line could be unhooked or broken.

I pulled in from going to store & there was a puff of smoke the next day it was not charging battery is good & had altornator tested & It's good any help would be good

if the puff of smoke was inside the car in the dash it would be the amp gauge in the dash that will stop it from charging if it is the gauge not the dummy light

2003 Kia Optima - Dashboard Lights not working.

if you have aftermarket lights hooked up to the dash light it has been known to smoke the rheostat that controls the dimmer. I would also check the other fuses, sometimes the cluster refers to the guages themselves and not the lights that illuminate them
